Dutagen - side effects. Considering stopping. Any thoughts?

I've been on Dutagen 0.5 mg for a month now. Previously I was on finasteride for over a year and saw no improvement - and probably more lost hair - and the side effects were minimal and went away.

On the Dutagen the side effects are much more noticeable. Very watery sperm, loss of "morning wood", I still get erections but only when they are initiated by touch, etc. No more "random" erections, etc.

I'd like to know if anyone else experienced the same and your body eventually got used to the drug and you're back to your old self? Are you just sticking with it and dealing with the effects? Of course it is too early to say if the dutasteride is working on my head -- I am just concerned with messing with my head downstairs.

Any advice is welcome and appreciated.

Thanks for the reply, pidda. That is easier said than done. I am looking for some feedback from those that have actually taken Dutasteride and experienced similar sides.

I have been on dutasteride for 11 months now. I started noticing that it was working within three days after starting using it. I am a diffuse thinner and my hair loss almost always starts with my scalp starting to itch. So I can tell most of the time when I am losing hair and when I am not.

Dutasteride stop my hair loss dead in its track. My hairline did continue to recede slowly for a bit but it then eventually stabilized. During this 11 month period they have been times when I didn't order new pills on time. So to make up for the days that I would have been without pills, I usually take one every other day. Taking one EOD usually leads to me starting to lose hair and my hairline usually starts receding again. Because of this, I have lost a little ground from when I first started. But if it wasn't for this I would not have lost any ground.

Side Effects
Three months after I started taking dutasteride I began to experience side effects. Side effect were watery semen, difficulty maintain erection, lost of libido and penis shrinkage. watery semen eventually went away about 4 month after I first notice it. My libido also began to improve 4 months after I notice it. However, erection problems and penis shrinkage never fully return while I was fully on dutasteride. At around 7 months on dutas I did started to experience a little improvement in erection and maintaining it, I would say about 50% back to normal but never better than that.

There was a period when I was really late on re-ordering dutasteride and I had to skip 3, 4 days some time because I didn't want to run out totally. During those time I notice my erection, libido and penis size were starting to improve. This leads me to believe that if I stop taking dutasteride these side effects will go away.

Overall Dutasteride have been doing a great job at stopping my hair loss, However, I do experience side effects and I dont know how much longer I can bare it for. I am looking at other options such as cutting the pills in half to see if that helps with the sides or switching to RU or finasteride

Doesn't sound like I will be able to deal with the sides you did. I am currently going to cut my regimen down to every other day to see if the sides go away -- but like I said I haven't been on it long enough to see if that will also effect any results.
