Hi, I’m a 19 year old who has been signs of balding since 16. I have been significant temple recession with the hairs thinning and significant crown thinning.

My current regiment is:

1.25mg finasteride daily
7% Minoxidil
Nizarol 3 times a week
1.5mm derma roller one a week

I have been on all this for 1.5 years but my crown has continued to slowly thin, however the front section of my hair has retained. Would I be a good candidate for dutasteride?

I would like to add that I’ve had facial hair since 15, full hairy chest, hairy shoulders and even significant back hair since I was 17. Not sure if this shows I have high dht and that finasteride isn’t lowering my levels enough. Thanks

How long have you been doing minoxidil/needling combo?
I started minoxidil at 17 and responded unbelievably fast and strongly to it, but since then those gains have left me. I couldn’t start finasteride until 18 so I presume that the dht just miniaturised the hairs. From what I can presume is that my dht levels were initially high (no bloodwork) and I also had regular sensitive hair follicles. The reason I mentioned dutasteride is that I feel I may still be above the threshold that causes hair loss in me. I would probably be very far gone right not if it weren’t for finasteride significantly slowing my hair loss.

It's not clear how much of a step up dutasteride is but it does target all three types of reductases. You could try. I mean, you are so young but you could also try Loniten, which is reputed to grow better hair than any version of topical min unless a person is a fantastic responder to regular min. Stay with the derma-rolling once a week. It can take years but it definitely works. Add a Sulfur-based shampoo like Selsun Blue for alternative days and maybe zinc-based Head and Shoulders for a less harsh, finishing shampoo. These will all help inflammation which is something that is being focused on much more nowadays as a source of hair loss.

okay thank you, I will say the scalp inflammation thing is interesting because at my crown I’ve been getting rather itchy the past few months and occasionally get some pimples but I had no idea what was causing it. Know it isn’t min because I’ve used rhat for several years but maybe should I go to a dermatologist to check if I have any underlying issues? Might explain why my hairline has held but not my crown

Here take a look at Janey's new restoration pics with before and after's and tell me if you can perceive regrowth. I can:

Definitely can see a difference in density between the photos.
Notice all of the regrowth in front of the ears. Guys some times forget that their used to be hair there. Ah, see, don't worry HRT plus Serms will be the coming thing for cis-guys so that they can have it all or at least partially.

Would you say for now, trying dutasteride won’t hurt and I should also solve me scalp irritation?
