Dutasteride Sexual Side Effects-Tempory?

Hi:


I previously have been using propecia and have not experienced side effects. I decided to switch too Dutasteride in the past 4 months. In comparison, I have noticed my hair to look a bit thicker using Dutasteride as compared to propecia. Not too drastic of a change though.


Since using Dutasteride I have noticed impotence and decreased sex drive. My question is, if I keep using dutasteride will these problems stop happening? Also, if I go off of dutasteride how long will it take for me to not have these problems?

There are no guarantees with drugs that alter the endocrine system, especially 5AR inhibitors. Most likely things will reverse but there are anectodal cases of ongoing side effects from the drugs despite quitting, in a an unknown percentage of men worlwide (albeit likely in the rare minority).

Also, if I go off of dutasteride how long will it take for me to not have these problems?

Minimum 5 weeks after last dosage for DHT levels to even begin returning to baseline, due to extreme potency of Dutasteride against 5ARI and II enzymes, and it's long half-life.
