dutasteride side effect?

i recently stopped taking generic dutasteride after about two months due to an extreme case of itchiness. it was so bad that i now have small scars on forearm that look like track marks (from the scratching). I don t want to scare or discourage anyone and would definitely encourage those like me for whom propecia didnt really work (I'm actually more scared that it did work and that I should be a lot worse off than I am now).

Anyway, my question is this, see if I'm making sense:

dutasteride has a long half-life and as a result is in your system for a long time.

because of this, side effects (like my reaction) should last as long as it's in your bloodstream

my itchiness wore off within a few days of stopping

Does this mean that i could have been reacting to some kind of
superficial additive in that specific brand of pill so that i would not have the same reaction to another version?

Thanks for any input.. I've started propecia again even though i know that it does nothing for me. Had a lot of hope for dutasteride.

So you were seeing positive results from taking dutasteride?

Bad news you got sides that were not tollerable..did you reduce dose?

I am due to switch from finasteride to dutasteride as finasteride has done nothing bar aggravate my hairloss over the last 6 months.

I do get tireness side from finasteride and reduced dose so potential for sides from dutasteride is high, but I will tollerate some sides if it worked. finasteride i've been tollerating side and getting no result which is pointless.

Half life is long with dutasteride so should be able to get good effect on smaller doses compared to finasteride but as you say if you wanted to stop it will take many days to get out of system.
