Dutasteride users - sebum question

Has anyone taking Dutasteride also have a history of having oily skin? If so, did you notice a difference in sebum production after taking dutasteride?

I'm considering starting dutasteride as Propecia doesn't seem to have helped in the 11 months I've been using it. I also have very, very oily skin and would love something to combat that. As dutasteride inhibits both types of 5-ar and in theory should reduce sebum production, I'd really appreciate any feedback from dutasteride users.

I too have very oily skin. However, it is very difficult to rate the sebum production on my scalp because I use dutasteride in combination with the Big 3 regime. If I must decide on whether dutasteride has helped curb my sebum production, I'd say I simply don't know, I doubt it, because if it has, it has definitely not been very noticeable! Try Nizoral Shampoo, I think the shampoo is much more immediate towards decreasing sebum.

Hope this helps...

I'm about six months into dutasteride and have very oily skin. To be honest I didn't really notice much difference in sebum production.

My hair still gets oily if i don’t wash it every day, and my face is shiny after some hour’s nightclubing. My best tip for you, if you actually want to control the sebum in your face, is when I use Nizoral; I mix the suds with a decent exfoliating face wash, scrub and leave for a few minutes. Also use shine control moisturizer afterwards, its oil free and works really well.
