screw dutasteride, it seems like nobody gets really anything better out of it. it works like finasteride but it has like 5 times the side effects. OSH101 is the future!

Hi Webdzynes, check out my thread in the Tell Your Story section for how dutasteride is working out for me - I'll be updating it in a couple of weeks when I reach the 10 month mark.

wow, i just read your story post startibartfast. So i guess dutasteride works. I wonder if it is still going to come out as a hairloss drug in the future.

I think that Glaxo haven't launched it as a hairloss drug because in their opinion it wouldn't generate sufficient sales to justify the cost of the clinical trials needed - or at least they have a drugs pipeline with other, more profitable, medicines that they prefer to develop - and unless that changes it will stay as a treatment for BPH.

Hope the finasteride is helping you badasshairday, give it time to work before thinking about using dutasteride.

Hey Slarti. . .my doctor just gave me a prescription for Avodart, saying that it works wonders for hair loss, but I'm a little concerned about taking such an un-tested drug. Does it really work that well? Are there more dangers involved than with Propecia? It just seems a little too good to be true to me. . .

Should I start taking this stuff or what?

Hey JiveTurkey, what with Avodart being such a recently released drug it lacks the long-term studies of Finasteride and, therefore, no one can be certain as to its effects over a prolonged period - though your Doctor obviously believes it to be safe.

This is why it's best to give finasteride and, if you can stand the hassle of application, minoxidil at least a year before stepping up to dutasteride. If you've already used finasteride and minoxidil for at least this long and are unhappy with the results, as I was, then switching to dutasteride, preferably in conjunction with minoxidil, sounds reasonable and should help - though it's no miracle cure, any results will take time.

Of course whether to take it is a judgment call that only you can make, all I can say is that's it's working for me and that I'm not suffering any side effects.

Good luck,
Slarti
