So this started from a conversation with @Afro_Vacancy where he brought up the film Gattaca as an essential watch for people who go on this forum.

------------------------------------------------------------------

I'll edit this post to include suggestions that seem to have some reasoning behind them or appear popular (even if I don't agree).

So what are we looking for in an Impact Section Film list?

For me it somewhat relates to a lot of the discussions we have on here, not only in regards to baldness, but generally our attitudes or reactions to ugliness and beauty, and how we, or society as a whole views it, as well as other topics that are circumstantial and still result in respect and admiration from society- but nobody gives a f***, they just admire it.

This could also branch out into further reasons such as subculture ideals that aren't exactly mainstream approved, but are in major feature films, which have elements that tap into our general psyche.

I'll kick it off with:

Gattaca

In treating and maintaining hair I often get a feeling of uncertainty as to who I am, and what that question even means. Am I destined to be the bald me? Should I accept that? And if I don't accept it, where does that thought end?

This is a film that deals with eugenics and the extent to what human beings have the "right" to "correct" themselves, and whether they should have that right, and if they're allowed it at all, why aren't they allowed to take it to extremes?

I can't really think of a more appropriate HairLossTalk.com/Impact Section film, for me that's right up there.

In addition to films, lets also include books.

I have not read it, but I came to know of it one of the other threads here:

The protagonist of Gone Girl is somewhat of an MRA caricature. The men in her life are either beta providers that she mistreats or alphas that she craves nearly independent of their behavior. There's also a lot of commentary about the media.

how deadwood is related?

The way everybody has a set role in that society, and the way the women feel love.

Does Al Swerengen get a girlfriend who worships him? No. Why not? He has the most confidence.

See also The Wire. An interesting aspect of The Wire is that all or nearly all sexual relationships are initiated by the women. They go after men who have both power and looks like stringer Bell and Major Daniels.

When Marlo Stanfield has a girl throw herself at him ... He assumes that she's hired to assassinate him, and he's right !

I didn't watch a deadwood just asked.

Watched a wire – top show ever. That main Irish actor is alpha af.

Sopranos is VERY reliable as well. Lol @ place of women there.

I wouldn't mind some reasons as well, without completely spoiling the film of course.

I can also imagine this will eventually turn into a vote, for what we feel is the winner of the best HairLossTalk.com Impact Section film that sums us all up. It could be an interesting look into how we as a forum view the world, and possibly an insight into how popular posters opinions can seem way more influential than what we're actually thinking as a whole.

But mainly I just expect some bitterly misogynistic film to win, and I'm still OK with that.

Melancholia (2011) Director: Lars Von Trier

Great depiction of depression and the red pill effect it can have on people.

I love this film, it's probably one of my favourite films of all time. But I'm not sure if it relates to the average HairLossTalk.com poster.

Maybe I should stop trying to judge this as to what constitutes a good HairLossTalk.com film and I should just include everything?

As they advance on the Norwood scale they will come to relate to it more and more, don't worry....

My last addition on that list: Fiddler on the Roof.

I thought I could enjoy some entertainment without thinking about hair loss.

Then right at the beginning of the movie, they talk about this matchmaker in their Jewish community who puts people together, and this young girl is complaining about her:

"The matchmaker tried to match me with this old man, and he was bald! He had no hair mom! A girl has got to look at her husband from time to time!"

This movie is from 1971, there's just no escape from this sh*t, no matter the day and age.
I noticed that scene too.
