Even Bald People Don't Like Bald People

I have a confession to make.

I was at a fast food restaurant the other day. I had money off two coupons with me. After I ordered, using one of the coupons, and was waiting, I decided to give my other unused coupon to someone else.

I looked around at who to give it to. There were a couple guys and one was balding. The other was an older guy but he had a full head of hair and was dressed nicely.

Something told me to give it to the guy with a full head of hair, so I did. I just felt he was more deserving of it. Not even sure if it was the hair or I just felt he deserved it for making the effort to look presentable. He just looked better, including having hair.

I just felt the balding guy didn't care enough about his appearance to cover his head.

what if the guy with hair had been dressed like a scrub while the balding guy had been dressed presentably .. who would you have given it to ? I guess that scenario would be more telling

I am thinking the guy with hair. Maybe it is just a self hatred thing. You'd think I would want to help those in a similar circumstance as myself, but instead I think I feel negative toward the balding guy because he represents something about myself that I hate.

I suppose that makes sense... Just because we are bald doesn't make us an entirely different breed than everyone else. We are just as vulnerable to being brainwashed as anyone.

But given the chance I would have helped out the bald brother. The social perception (which is admittedly your own perception as well) is not right. It is morally wrong to think lesser of someone because of a physical trait beyond their control... but yet it is commonplace. A persistent injustice persists!!

It's just like how even fat people won't date other fat people.

If I was pushed to choose one, I'd give the voucher to the fullhead. I too don't want to be stuck having the association with baldness. In practice, I'd give it to nobody. After all, what sort of fast food was this, was it McDonald's, KFC, Burger King? I don't want to encourage anyone to put on more weight. Especially not a baldie, as his appearance is already compromised by his hair loss.
