Excessive Hat Wearing?

Anyone else in this club?

I wouldn't consider myself a 24/7 hat guy, but I do find myself wearing them very reguarly. I'm somewhere between Norwood 3 and 4(one side is much better than the other), diffuse as well. I wear concealers sometimes, but they are a hassle at times as been documentated. With my work, I can wear a cap/beanie and often I do this to save time, but as many who wear hats it's a bit of a crutch. As it instantly frames your face again, plus covers up your balding diffuse as well.

I'd love to hear from the extreme side of hat wearers? Does anyone reach for the cap as soon as they wake up or even wear it 24-7 or sleep in one even?

Maybe it's mind thing too, but at least now winter is coming there is a good reason to wear a beanie, but wearing a hat too much is almost excelling the problem.

People will wonder why you are wearing it so much.
Akward situations where you will have to take the hat off, but don't want to.

Yep I used to be that guy! Back in the days when I didn't wear a cap at all I had a full head of hair and for some reason i've decided to wear a cap and beanies. I weared my cap outside, in school, in home and even at the gym.
Basically my my head couldn't breathe or something and resulted in losing lots of hair D:. I should also point out that I've staightened my hair, put hair wax in and hairspray which made it worse if you go partying and keep that **** in your hair for more than 2 days.

Wearing a hat does NOT make you go bald... who the hell came up with this ridiculously STUPID theory?

I think its because my scalp got really irritated this way and because i scratched my head so much I've managed to damage my hair follicles.

Hellouser. Do you wear hats a lot?

In the winter, yes. I live in Canada. In the summers? Only when I'm under the sun for 4 hours or more at a single time... which is basically once in a blue moon.

But yeah wearing hats won't exacerbate male pattern baldness. It might pull out hairs that are ready to fall out which probably would have gotten pulled out in the shower regardless of wearing the hat or not. If anything the hat protects your scalp getting burnt. A burnt head would be worse for your male pattern baldness than wearing a hat for sure.

Well if you burn the hell out of your scalp with a tan.. you could potentially replicate the BBQ guy that burned his scalp on some kind of grill or something and had complete regrowth.

I lived in a hat from high school through college. Slept in it, swam in it, lived in it. Havent worn one for years now, though.

I somewhat agree with you, Because some people who wear Hat are not go bald, but others are. So I don't rely 100% on this theory. However i suggest you not to wear Hat all the time. Because our Hairs also need fresh and Healthy Air. They are also take breath like us.

LOL what have you been smoking??
I think you need some "fresh and healthy air" hahaha

There is definitely a good debate that wearing a hat can build up sweat and possibly sebum which can clog pores and cause hair loss.

Just about everyone did when I was growing up in the South. After college I had to work so that cut it down 90%. Then, they started giving me headaches so I hung them up (pun intended:))

I can't wear hats at work and I did get a lot of negative comments about my receeding until I grew my hair out into a fringe in which people no longer comment (thank god) as I can hide my thin temples. As for public.... I wear hats 90% of the time, baseball caps in the summer/spring and beanies in the fall/winter.

So I'm sort of on hat probation lol.... I prefer wearing them because it allows me extra security from the wind and other things but I've gotten to where I no longer get severe anxiety in public without a hat. I deal with a lot of older people at my job so they don't really judge me as they have hair loss themselves but teenage girls tend to point it out at times which makes me mad.

Exactly!! It's such a simplistic answer for hair loss.
I can't believe people STILL bring up this bull****.
Hair loss is due to good old mother nature. End of story.

If excessive hat wearing actually did cause baldness, every single returning soldier from WWI and WWII would have been completely bald. The same goes for baseball players, handegg (american football) players, chefs, police officers, etc.

Logic says otherwise though.

I literally never wore hats until I was already balding (to cover it up of course). Unless you wear a ridiculously tight fitting hat (who does that?) I highly doubt there is any effect on circulation from wearing hats at all.

Pretty much wear it every time I go out. Use concealers for special occasions.

Pain in the ***.
