Experiences With Finasteride-low Mood And Switching To Dutasteride?

I take 0.5mg finasteride everyday. It's a dose I transitioned into over around 10 weeks - but it was a pretty horrible transition. Every time I increased the dose 3 days later my mood would go from a 8 to a 1, then my body would adjust and I'd be fine. I am generally a depressed person however, so I think I'm more prone to it.

I've seen general reviews for both finasteride and dutasteride... and it seems to me that finasteride is worse for inducing depression? Not to mention the less effective treatment. My hair loss has been pretty agressive and affected mainly the frontal scalp.

I'm wondering if dutasteride might serve me better? Or is switching to the stronger drug likely to have a similar (if not worse) detrimental effect on my mental health?

dutasteride inhibits more than just type 2 5ar, so mental effects may be worse. If it's any consolation i have extremely bad social anxiety, depression and have never noticed any worsening of my symptoms on either finasteride or dutasteride.

My mood, forgetfulness, and brain fog was far worse on dutasteride. Switching to every other day helped a bit.

Read up on the effects of inhibiting 5 AR type 1. dutasteride heavily inhibits it but finasteride doesn’t.

I felt fatigued and low energy on finasteride but I never really had cognitive issues.
