Ok about 8 months ago i had a FULL head of hair with not a care in the world. As time passed i noticed a little bit of receeding in the front of my head(just on the sides above the temple) but its only noticable when i pull my hair up. As more time passed i noticed shedding....but im talkin some SERIOUS shedding. I can run my hand through my hair and literally pull out about 15-20 hairs.....its scary. So about a month ago i decided to cut my hair fairly short....i didnt buzz it or anything....but i normally i have long shaggy hair so its short for me. I was delighted with the results...my hair looked much thicker and back to normal. So a month has passed and the shedding has gotten worse....now the texture of my hair feels soo different. my hair has turned extremely soft.....and i can feel the cool breeze on the top of my head in certain spots :(

I normall have dark thick black hair....now its soo thin, light, and has a redish tint to it. Ive always had a cowlick(sp?) in the back of my head....but i noticed its gettin bigger. I dont have the official bald spot yet....but it looks like it could be on its way. Im only 22 years old and i just graduated college....this is not supposed to happen. Im not too concerned about the receeding hairline....but i am very concerned about the thinning and the spot on the back of my head. i want to start takin meds as soon as possible....which brings me to my question. Do i have to keep my hair at a normal length in order for meds to work properly? because i planned on shaving my head bald while i was takin the meds so no one would notice the balding....but im afriad....i feel like my hair is soo fragile right now if i shave it...its going to be gone permanantly.(in the spots where balding is occuring)

I need some serious advice as far as shaving the head....and medication i can take immediately.

THank you VERY MUCH

There's enough info on the sight already for you to be looking at - you will get the good old response of : Get on Propecia (proscar is much cheaper - via the net) buy some Nizoral 2% and use 3 times a week and give it plenty of time to see if its gonna work. Other than than that be prepared for a scary ride and the sheds as propecia initially gets in your body and shocks your system. Good luck son - it's gonna be a tough battle to keep that shitty bit of hair on your head! 8)
