Hey guys,
No pictures - sorry! Only took some recently as I was seeing some success. I've been using Regaine foam (UK) for quite a while now (12 months +) and was seeing moderate success. Nothing incredible, but still notable and made me feel a whole lot better. I started out with very thin and wispy long-ish (3 inches+) messy hair. I could still make it look decent with my own tried concoctions and mixtures of gel, hair dryer, styles. It looked 'ok' and most people couldn't tell I was losing it. But it was nevertheless annoying. Was still happy to have hair but I knew that I was going to end up bald if I didn't do something.
I first started using Rogaine with keto shampoo. After about 6 months of use I started seeing real results. I was starting to need less gel and it looked not thaaat bad without styling it. Previously I would not even do exercise without putting gel in (yes, very insecure balding loser behaviour I guess!) as I knew it would expose my balding. The crucial element (I think, can't be sure though!) in all this is that I was forced to quit my job and start working freelance to follow my girlfriend to the other side of the world (love, hey!). So then I started applying Rogaine twice properly per day. The thing that I was doing wrong was applying the foam, waiting a limited amount of time, then blow drying it and applying gels. In the evening I would sometimes go to bed straight after work and would put Rogaine on a gel full of hair. I didn't think this was a problem as I started seeing results. However, after changing my routine to a) applying it when waking up and leaving it without gel or blow dry for 4 hours minimum and b) rinsing my hair in the evening, letting it dry and then applying it I started seeing GREAT results. My hair is quite thick now (relatively speaking), my girlfriend is noticing the difference visually as well which is awesome. I can basically let it air dry and it looks fine. I really noticed the difference in my scalp absorbing the foam. Before I would barely even feel it on my scalp, now I feel like it really does cover everything. I think gels really stop it getting through properly, especially with long hair. Also the blow drying must negatively affect this as well.
I just started using Revivogen as well so we'll see whether that does anything. I'm worried about sides with finasteride so not sure if I should start that.
Hope this has been somewhat of an inspiration for those thinking of using Rogaine. Please use the product properly and according to the instructions before saying it doesn't work!
Anyway, long story short:
- started using Rogaine and saw decent results
- started applying it in a more effective way and results improved dramatically
- now have decent hair (still thin ish) and require far less gel and styling
- Success! very happy, now wondering whether to use finasteride
