Noticed hairloss since 19, dupa (where hair also thins on side and back) been on minoxidil and finasteride last 10 years (I’m 31)....I firmly believe finasteride and minix helped slowed it down, but I’m starting to feel like the time has come. here’s my current regimen
-finasteride
-minoxidil
-Nizoral
-Dermaroll 3xweek
-Laser cap every other day
-Saw palmetto/biotin/iron/pumpkin seed oil vitamins
I conceal my hairloss by keeping the sides and back really short. It’s funny cuz the side view doesn’t look bad at all but the top view is where you can really see the recession. Any advice on what else I can add to my regimen?

Good hair for a 31 year old. Ten years of thinning and you’re not bad yet, so I’d consider it a nice success.

In terms of stepping it up, you can do oral minoxidil, you can maybe use topical dutasteride to supplement your finasteride

Thanks brotha, just trying to at least hold off til I’m in my late 30s and married. I have a bit of a love hate relationship with minoxidil due to the wrinkles it caused my forehead as well as the circles it sometimes causes under my eyes...is oral minoxidil something that would worsen side effects such as these? And what are your thoughts of spironolactone, topical vs oral etc?

How long did u stay on finasteride for? minoxidil and finasteride works for dupa...dupa is basically hairloss that doesn’t follow a pattern. My sides are thin but my top stayed thick due to minoxidil and finasteride

If it’s any consolation to u, people with dupa are perfect candidates for SMP treatment due to the fact that we’ll probably never be slick bald just diffused thinning all over. For example if u get SMP and a girl runs her hand over your head she would be able to feel stubble

I have been taking fina for 8 months and my hair keeps falling out. I have read a lot of information on dupa that says that fina does not work on this type of baldness.

The only good news is that my hairline has not moved and I am still norwood 1. This seems to be your case too.

You have good hair for 31 y old and balding since 10 years

I appreciate your words but if you look at my second picture from the top angle, I’m far from a Norwood 1. Here’s an article that i read about finasteride and minoxidil for Dupa. Have u tried minoxidil with the finasteride?

‘We diagnose DUPA in men by looking for miniaturization or changes in hair diameter. In DUPA, we find changes in diameter not only on the top of the scalp but also on the sides.

Diffuse unpatterned hair loss can be difficult to detect if someone is young because often this pattern of thinning does not become apparent until the late twenties. This is one of the reasons we don’t do a hair transplant on someone young, because if you have DUPA, the back and sides become thin, the scars may become visible – and that’s whether you do FUT or FUE. Finally, the transplant hair will disappear because the donor hair from the back and sides is not really permanent.

Both DPA and DUPA in men respond well to medical treatment using minoxidil and finasteride. Unfortunately, finasteride is not indicated for the treatment of hair loss in women.’

I havent tried minoxidil and to be honest i don't want to try minoxidil because i am scared of side effect. The other concern is that I don't want to make my hair dependent on minoxidil because once you stop, you lose everything.

Botox is relatively cheap and it will take care of that easily.

According to Dr Rassman 50% of all DUPA sufferers benefit from finasteride so yes, it can work for DUPA.
