few things i wanna know ...
does finasteride stop a male's voice from cracking further?
does it halt the further growth of the penis?(serious question..i'm not talking about penis getting smaller, just further growth, pllz dont joke about balls dissolving, shrinking, etc)
and in short..what is the role of DHT in our bodies?

To my knowledge finasteride does not affect vocal chords.

To my knowledge there is absolutely no data that shows finasteride affects the growth of the penis.

what is the role of DHT in our bodies?
Primarily for development of sexual organs during pregnancy and development of secondary male characteristics during puberty.

Good grief!!!!!

Ive been on propecia for almost TEN YEARS.

I have big muscles, weigh over 200 lbs, am cut, have chest hair, leg hair, beard hair, and an active libido. Propecia will not turn you into a woman. There are many male hormones (DHEAS, DHEA, Testosterone, androstenidione, etc. etc.) Reducing this one (and only about 38% in your skin tissue) will not make you Mariah Carey.

I think ten years puts you on the very highest end of active users here. I am on about 1.5 years (two on minoxidil). Some acne and perhaps slightly reduced libido (although I am not 25 anymore).

How has your sucess been with finasteride after 10 years? Lots of growth, maintenance, regrowth?

I assume I will be on it at least 10 years, unless something else comes out.

10 years is a long time man..did u ever feel that finasteride lost its effectiveness on u?

Guys,

Over the past 10 years my temples have slowly receeded. I have hair in the middle, top, and back. It is sort of like Jude Law's hair. But what I have is pretty darn thick.

If I could go back and be 21 again, I'd get on propecia (although Id proboably only take half a pill a day), and Id look for a topical anti-androgen (Hairlosstalk moderators seem to have a high opinon of spirolactalane, or a product called revivogen). Some believe that the fatty acids in emu oil might inhibit DHT, especially if fortified with saw palmetto oil, which has linolenic, linoleic, oleic, and lauric acids in their free form naturally. Loren Pickart sells this on his site skinbio.com.

Ive wondered if the progesterone creams would be good anti-androgens also, but really dont see many posting on it. Women use it. It competes with androgen receptors with DHT.

If I were young then Id go with half a propecia, Nizoral shampoo about every 3 or 4 days, an anti-androgen topical, I might go with a copper peptide also (tricomin, american crew, or folligen) and use per instructions.
Id also get on a low fat diet and make sure I got plenty of the b-vitamins that seem to be good for hair and avoid fats from red meats and dairy. Thats 4 products a month and dietary restrictions. Thats about as hard as I'd be willing to work on hair. Life has to be lived. Hopefully those geneticists will be able to shoot us up with something in a few years and we will all keep our hair forever. Im pullin' for em'.

check up the links. all this is pointing that 0.2mg work almost as well as 1mg. so 0.5mg might be a good compromise. weight the evidents and make your own decision whether you might to try lower dosage.

so far, only long term test is done on 1mg. but that does not show lower dosage like 0.25mg - 0.5mg does not work as well. it might even benefit you in the long run as our body can get use to certain dosage over years.

good to hear that your results haven't diminished. how come you would go with half a propecia? are you having side effects? it gives me acne and dry skin so I was considering cutting the dosage. however Im just starting to see results so Im not sure if I want to mess with it yet
