hi people

i'm from India. i'm almost 21, just finished my engineering studies and about to start work. i started losin hair about 3 years ago. Didnt think it would fall this fast.but boy ive lost tons of hair.
One guy from my duetsch class said i look like a 42 year old! and the prof was surprised to hear me say i'm 20. Everyone else laughed in the class. Its really traumatising. The hair loss was due to depression and a lotta stress, i know that. BUt is there any way to revive my hair ? i mean, ive a few ambitions in life, and i need to chase them hard. But wit this hair goin haywire, its sapping up all my energy and mood. I'm takin Homeopathic treatment . some improvement seen, but not very considerable.

i live in india as i sed, and i need to know if there's any treatment possible. Is it too late?

Help me people!

hey fidel,

welcome to the forum. about what you should do... well you can look on this forum to get a few ideas.

if the hair you lost was due to stress, then it should grow back. however if it was due to male pattern baldness (Male Pattern Baldness) then you're going to have to treat it. most would recommend the big 3:

Propecia - for maintenence & some regrowth
Regaine/Rogaine/Minoxidil - for regrowth
Nizoral shampoo - for general haircare

there's a lot of info on this board, so look around. whatever you do, seeing results will take a while, so you have to be patient. try not to let it get you down, & if need be, whip out the razor & shave your noggin'.

good luck

Well at least you are in India; the home of cheap generics (Cipla, Dr. Reddys, etc.) :D

He means that you can buy a cheaper brand on finesteride (Proscar, Propecia in UK or elsewhere) in India. No one really knows for sure if they are of the same quality as Merck.

Although if they weren't of the same quality it would surely make sense for Merck to expose this in a study (not that hard considering the quality of their labs) in order to boost their sales.

My dad's a doctor and he says that generic pills normally have 70% of the actual medicine whereas name brand ones have 100% of it.

That soes not sound like an opinion based on any firm research. Generic pharmaceuticals sold in the US are as good as the name brand medications. And Cipla is a well known manufacturer and they have been around for a long time. I spoke to a family friend who is an Indian and her brother works as a physician in India. At my request he spoke to some dermatologists in India and all of them report high levels of success (similar to what Propecia claims in their clinical trials) with Finpicia.
