I am here to post what as finally worked for me as I have been losing hair for years. I tried Propecia in the past but only lasted days on it as my anxiety was heightened and had been on Rogaine for years. I would see hair everywhere, in the shower, my pillows, everywhere but my head. Well I have finally been having success and I would like to share with people who are going through the same. Feel free to message me with any questions, as I have been there. I have taken everything under the sun, herbals such as saw palmetto, different hair vitamin concoctions, iron pills (thinking it was all iron related), b vitamins, different topicals from Nioxin to anything I could get my hands on. Nothing worked, I wanted to believe it did, but it didn't. I also never thought I would finally start seeing regrowth. I still see hairs when I shower, but that is normal hair loss. So I will share what I have been using.
First off, I find it better to try something, stick with it for 3 months, if it doesn't work move on, but constantly changing regimens will never produce results. Expecting anything in less than 3 months probably isn't going to happen.
I started the Propecia and stuck with it. I didn't want to get on it, but I had finally seen enough. I started with a 1/4 of a pill and after a couple weeks, I worked up to a half, then to a whole. For the first time my body could handle it.
Next, I went to my dermatologist and discussed minoxidil. I told her that Rogaine never did anything and if anything made it worse with the alcohol in it. She wrote me a script for a compounded minoxidil with no alcohol in it. Also she made it for 10% minoxidil instead of 5%. I use that twice daily.
I also bought one of overmachogrande's laser helmets. There are other brands too though. I use that 3 times a week after I shower.
I take a hair vitamin called Now Solutions hair skin & nails.
I also use Neutrogena t/sal shampoo 3 times a week.
That is it. No taking 10 different pills like I used to, which by the way, I think was causing more harm than good. I took so many different herbal supplements and vitamins I honestly think it was making my problem worse. It has been 5 months so far and I have attached some pictures. Also in the first picture, I think the lighting is way brighter too so it makes my hair look a lot thinner, the second picture the lighting isn't as bright. I think the results are about as good as I could get them.
I got out of the shower today and decided I should share this in hopes of helping anyone that is going through what I went through. My hair is still thin, it's nowhere near what it used to be, and it may never get back to that, but just knowing I have a regimen that has finally helped me, makes me feel better.
This may not work for everyone, but if you take anything from this, I hope it would be that taking 20 different pills, and constantly changing things up is never good. Go with the basics that have been proven to work, and stick with it for a while, if after a while it doesn't work, switch it up. Also remember that so many people are going through the same thing you are, and you are not alone. It sucks, but if you find a doctor who cares, and try the things that have been proven to work as opposed to stuff you read on the internet (yes, I know you're reading this) it makes going through this ordeal just a little bit easier. Hope this helps people, or at least gives you a little boost in confidence.
