Quick history/summary: I'm 22 currently, started losing my hair around 19/20. Inspite of people's consistent reminders I remained in denial for quite a while. Finally capitulating to the truth, I was pointed to this site from another forum a little over a year ago. I decided to order proscar (cut in 4 so 1.25mg daily). Don't think I posted much at all, nor have I even visited this site in at least a year.
Anyway, I'm exceedingly happy with the results. Was only expecting to keep what I had but I've experienced very gradual regrowth too. I have a before and after pic. Unfortunately the only photos I have of myself are ones friends took when I'm inebriated.
Anyway this is from october 2004 immediately before treatment:

I'm, as if you hadn't guessed, on the far left.
From about two months after I started taking it and onwards, people's everyday thoughtless remarks like "you know you're going bald", "wow! you're really losing your hair" or changing my nickname from radio to receedio, began to disappear. Then soon they did completely! Going on a trip a few weeks back it was even remarked a couple times that my hair looked great, that I seemed to be growing "less bald". So I've included a picture from that trip as my after:

I'm in the middle. It's not the best angle to see the hair, but you get the idea I think.
I don't like to admit it but my mood has elevated, I feel more confident, outgoing, happier and I've never appreciated my hair more. Really it's thanks to finasteride.
Side effects wise I've never noticed even the mildest drop in libido. Only a slight change in consistency of semen. Which doesn't bother me.
It should be noted that I tried rogaine for a couple of weeks too whilst on finasteride but it left my scalp painfully scabby. So I began using nizoral and discontinued the rogaine. Noticed however my dandruff wasn't going away, infact it was getting worse! So stopped using the nizoral and a week later I had no dandruff and my scalp never felt better.
I wish everybody the best of success in their treatments.
