i switched abruptly from finasteride to dutasteride. ive been on dutasteride for 5 months now, and front has gotten worse. would taking both be of any benefit? or does taking dutasteride reduce the need for finasteride altogether since it does what does?

im taking both together for security in case my dutas is fake. it's healthy to take both together but if you are sure that your dutasteride is real then you won't see any benefit from taking the finasteride. the finasteride just mimics some of the work of the dutasteride from waht i understand.

so to answer your question simply, real dutas eliminates the need for finasteride entirely.

thanks. the reason im concerned is that i quit finasteride abruptly and things have gotten worse overall with dutasteride. how long before you coudl make a judgement on its efficacy?

if you take a pill every day, I don't think things would go bad, at least not in back. but if you take 2 per week, it could take a few weeks for the dutasteride to reach a concentration that inhibits DHT as much as the finasteride did. or at least 0.1mg per day does not get high enough inhibition until about 25 days after starting. So you probbably should take one per day for 5 days before going to 2 per week, or stay on finasteride for 3 weeks while taking 2 per week, so you have constant protection.

Would there be any point to take 2 dutas a week and 5fin indefenatly?

only if you doubt authenticity of dutas. dutas 2x a week assuming it's real is way too strong for finasteride to compete with it from what i understand.

Isnt taking both pills at once putting a lot of pressure on the liver?
and imagine taking all that stuff for 20 years.... daily..

I know hair is very important for you Jay and everyone but getting Cirrhosis of the liver is a possibility right?

By the way.. do you guys do a liver test before starting taking these drugs?

thats not true at all. cirrhosis WHAT? where do you get this stuff from? taking finasteride along with dutasteride won't have any worse effects than dutasteride alone will. merck and glaxo tell people with PREVIOUS liver problems to avoid taking dutasteride and finasteride.

I just received my dutasteride today and plan on starting to slowly transition off propecia while taking the 0.5 mg dutasteride daily. I may take propecia every 3 days for about a month. Hopefully, this helps without impacting my hairloss and the benefits I have received from taking the propecia for the last 9 years.

I'm feeling optimistic man. My insurance just approved my GSK Avodart script and is going to pay 70% of the cost so I'll get Avodart for $360 a year. I hope by next year this time I am an NW1 again. I think it can happen.
