My hair transplant is coming up in a week. I haven't started using finasteride or minoxidil, but I will after the hair transplant.

If I start using the meds and notice side effects, forcing me to stop using them, is my hair destined for failure?

Is it even worth having an hair transplant if you can't go on the meds?

Thanks

Some sides can be averted. Estrogen related sides whilst on finasteride can be fought with DIM and I3C (which lower estrogen) and possibly flax seed oil.

And white button mushrooms possibly.

Also, you could always lower the dose of finasteride and back it up with something ELSE.

If you get serious Min sides (I don't know how many people do, but if you do), I believe the closest alternative (a topical vasodilator... I'm not sure of it also acts upon potassium channels like Min does) is apple polyphenols.

Oh, and don't forget Nizoral :)

Well you would continue to bald it could end up looking weird. Most people don't get any side effects, especially if they are not looking for them.

Still I think doctors should give patients the drug a couple of months before the transplant to make sure they tolerate it OK.
