Finasteride and Rogaine

Hi, so I'm 21 years old and have been noticeably balding since 18 or so. As it currently stands I have a noticeably receding hair line and am thinning everywhere else. I just started taking Finasteride about a month ago, and I plan to use Rogaine 6 months into the treatment.

My question is: Say I use Finasteride and it works for me, and I use the Rogaine to regrow the hair at the front of my head and it works, could I then stop using the Rogaine and just stick with the finasteride to keep the hair I regrew? Would the hair I gained with Rogaine be sustained on the Finasteride treatment, or would it fall off when I stop using Rogaine? It would be awesome to regrow my hair, but if Rogaine is something I'd have to use all my life regardless, then I wouldn't really feel it's worth it.

Would much appreciate knowledgeable answers on this, whether they're a case study or just anecdotal.

Finasteride is rather famous for not being able to maintain hair grown by Rogaine! There's even a medical journal article that was written on that very same subject! :)

By the way, the word "finasteride" isn't capitalized in the middle of a sentence. It's just the common name of a chemical, it's not a "proper name".

Do you have a link to that article or any similar articles?

*Edit* - Is there anything that's been shown to regrow hair and can be maintained with finasteride?

No. All I have is a paper copy of the article itself.

My guess is that finasteride would probably be able to maintain (or at least PARTLY maintain) hair grown with antiandrogens and other 5a-reductase inhibitors.
