Finasteride And Ru Together, Is It Possible To Go Bald On This?

So I have lost ground on finasteridd and minoxidil after taking it for 1 year. Still looks fullhead when dry, and hairline has not receded any, but when wet you can see the horseshoe forming, and the itch remains. I get really worried sometimes that my hair loss is treatment resistant, and most of the posts I see are of finasteride failure rather than success. But then again, I have never seen a before/after 3-5 years of someone who has gotten noticeably worse on finasteride.

To be sure, I have added RU 5% into the mix. I got no sides on finasteride, so this should be safe? Is finasteride + RU redundant?

My reasoning is finasteride to block most DHT production, RU to protect the follicles from any DHT that remain, and minoxidil, well hasn't grown a single hair for me but I'm too scared to get rid of it.

If you were a betting man, what are the odds of keeping hair with finasteride + RU for the next 5 years.

I have no idea how successful it would be, but my bet is that you'll get better results with what you're doing. Finasteride blocks 70% of dht. RU blocks other androgens as well as dht. I don't think it's redundant since you still have dht remaining. Some peple claim that other androgens also harm hair follicles, just not to the same level that dht does. It sounds like a solid plan. Have you thought about adding a derma rolling routine?

I started 1.5 weekly dermarolling 3 weeks ago. With this, and minoxidil for the last year, I'm surprised to see not even a baby hair sprout in the temple region. I dont need regrowth at this point though, only to just maintain. I'm 32, does hair loss become treatment resistant at this age?

It doesn't sound like your hair loss is aggressive and at 32 it's a positive. Because of this, you may respond better to treatments than someone who is younger with aggressive hair loss.

I followed this from the study:
  • Initiation of new hair growth was noticeable by around 6 weeks in Microneedling group and by 10 weeks in Minoxidil group.
  • Rapid growth in the existing hair was seen at week 1 in the Microneedling group than Minoxidil group.
I gave it a full 3 months using a pen at 1.5 mm and at 2 mm and didn't notice any change at all so I stopped. I may use it again at 1 mm but just for the hopes that it may improve blood flow.

This is a huge huge investment, but I bought the derminator 2. I have used it once so far at 2.0mm depth. It is fully adjustable in speed and in depth, and it's much less harsh on your head. I dermarolled, but I couldn't tolerate it. If it's too much of an investment, get a dermastamp or a dermapen. Rolling just causes too much unnecessary agitation. For what it's worth, I believe you will have good luck. You have slow hair loss. I'm 38 (I just recently realized my hair thinned) and have noticed what seems to be a bit of thickening on my diffuse thinning. I didn't realize I lost any hair on my temples until I started seeing hairs sprouting again. I'm really shocked. I just hope that my diffuse thinning is actually thickening and not just my imagination. the few hairs on my temples though are obviously regrowth though.
