Im a 24 year old male and i have been on finasteride for 3.5 years. Had great regrowth, healthier hair, etc. Eventually my genes caught up and i was forced to up my dose from 1mg daily, to 2.5 mg daily. All of a sudden, i began experiencing pain in my lower back, trouble urinating, jelly like globs in my semen, and horrible pain in my perineum. Ejaculation also became painful.
I went on antibotics and tried everything to resolve this... I have been suffering from this for almost a year now!!. I thought i would live with this forever.. I recently switched to dutasteride, and stopped taking finasteride to see if it would effect gains, and the pain completely disappeared after a week.. I never even considered finasteride could be the cause of this issue.. Its supposed to shrink the prostate not inflame it. The issue is, dutasteride isnt doing sh*t for my hair (which is probably why its not effecting my prostate). I took a finasteride tablet after realizing finasteride works better for me, and BOOM, the pain came right back.
Im likely going to have to fight through the pain because i dont want to lose my hair. Iv seen 3 other threads on here with the same symptoms and experience as myself!! Im relieved to know what the cause is, but also concerned that finasteride is harming my prostate. Is there any way i can reduce these symptoms from finasteride??
This isnt a coincidence or in my head. finasteride is causing me to have prostatitis symptoms. If i stop taking it within 2 days the pain is at a 0. If i take 2.5 mg of finasteride the pain returns within a day... I tried a lower dose, and the pain also went away... Went back to 2.5 mg, BOOM. Pain again..
Why is finasteride doing this and what can i do???
