Finasteride Daily + Dutasteride Once Per Week

Ive been taking finasteride 1mg daily for probably 18 months now. Got some .5mg dutasteride and decided to throw that in once per week since it has such a long half life and there is a bit of info out there on it, most of it is pretty old though.

I am also doing other things, like minoxidil, microneedling at 1.5mm with Li-Cl afterwards once per week. My only real concern is my hairline, I have dreads so it will cover the area for a while but really want to try all I can to get more back without going overboard. The only side effect I have is watery jizz so I can live with that.

Just wondering if anyone has tried/is doing this (microdosing)? And if so did you notice any difference?

In other words, it won't do sh*t. I tried for a couple of months and except my hairline went to sh*t, nothing else changed.

I dont get what you are meaning with that chart as it says it would potentially be beneficial? the .5mg dose dropped it more than the finasteride did (though it doesnt state the finasteride dose)
I would assume that since im taking finasteride everyday and only taking dutasteride once per week at .5mg then since the halflife is 5 weeks then over time it would end up building up and dropping it further and since it also targets Type 1 5AR. And of course the finasteride im taking would have already dropped things to a pretty low level anyway.

No, it's not that simple. Dutasteride has a dose-dependent half-life and it reduces the 5AR activity at 0.5mg/week as much as finasteride does.

Look, even if you go 0.5mg/day, the hair will not just magically start regrowing. .5mg duta/day is ~ 20% better at halting hairloss compared to finasteride 1mg/day. You can imagine that .5mg duta a week won't do sh*t which you can see in the graph above.

Yeah I get that its not going to give me magical regrowth or anything just thought it was worth throwing in maybe. There was a case of a guy being on finasteride for many years and then added dutasteride and got a mass amount of regrowth that was gone for years (its an actual properly documented case). Although thats only one story so it doesnt mean alot I was just curious if anyone else had had some luck.
Im holding ground okish but just need to step it up a bit. Having dreads is pretty hard on the hair in the first place so that probably doesnt help either lol.

Yeah I know about that australian "study", but it was done with one person, so it's useless in my opinion. You can try, just don't expect miracles as I said.

How did it go? Did you get results after adding dutasteride once a week?

I was on 1 dutasteride + 6Fins for 4 months. Nada. Other than massive shed for 6 weeks.

2 duts +5fin- No shed but no results.

1month 3duts + 4Fin- i will say less itching. My derm wants me off finasteride all together

.5 mg dutasteride decreases scalp dht by 51%

5 mg finasteride decreases scalp dht by 43%

.5 mg dutasteride decreases serum dht by 90-ish %

but .5 mg dutasteride also increases scalp testosterone by 100%! 5 mg finasteride increases it by 23%

then why is dutasteride considered better? Is this daily intake?

it blocks a lot more serum DHT

dutasteride is also more consistent. it has a variability of 2% whereas finasteride has a variability of 20%

i get that but if test. plays such a larger roll in loss I dont see how eliminating one but increasing other makes it "better". And Im on it since finasteride started to lag for me. It has done nothing. I recently upped dosage to 3 pills a week so we shall see.

does anyone know, what is the best way to migrate from finasteride to dutasteride?

some say to drop one and start another,

others say to take it together until dutasteride enters the system and starts working.

my derm had me replace 1fin for 1 dutasteride for 1st month. I did that for 4 months. After 4 months I did 2 duts. recently jumped to 3duts and now he wants me to wean off of finasteride all together.
