Haven’t been on here in some time!

I’ve been using 1.25mg finasteride daily since 2011 or 2012 and have maintained very well. No other treatments. I feel like over the last month or two I’ve been thinning quite a bit.

Should I increase dose? I’d consider switching to dutasteride but I know my Doctor wasn’t a fan of it back in 2014 or so

Increasing the dose doesn't help if you're using more than 1mg, so increasing the dose will not work. An easy fix to your regiment would be to add minoxidil, since you're not using it yet.

I tried using it years ago and could never stick with the regimen of 3x a day. I also work 48hrs straight so it’s hard to do at work.

Minoxidil 5% once a day is also pretty effective. But if that is also too much of a hassle, you can indeed try duta. Another option is a combination of finasteride/dutasteride, where you'd take 6 times a week finasteride and once a week dutasteride (because duta has a very high half-life), maybe your doctor would be happier to prescribe it.

See if you can get dutasteride from another source. I'm sure someone here can recommend one.

Hey just curious, I’ve been on 1 mg for 4 months now and receded a bit. Did you go through a slight shed when you started? If so can I have a time scale? Like 1-2 months 2-4, etc.

Thanks!!

Hair loss is a common problem across the globe. I also had problems with hair loss, Propecia Finasteride 1mg tablets helped me too. I bought it at an online pharmacy - www. pharmacy - weightloss.net

How long have you used it, did it regrow hair, stop your hair loss or just slow it, and how long did it take for you to see any noticable change?

The hair began to grow again after 4 months of use. The most important thing is to go through a full course and not to interrupt treatment. Whatever anyone said, the remedy really helped me! I stopped hair loss)

I think it is time for you to switch to dutasteride my friend. As already mentioned, finasteride has an essentially flat dose-response curve for all doses above a threshold dose which is below 1mg, so increasing your finasteride dose won't help much at all. It might be difficult getting your doctor to prescribe you dutasteride for hair loss. If your doctor isn't willing to prescribe it, you could get it online on AllDayChemist assuming they ship to your country. I have been getting my dutasteride from AllDayChemist for the last five years, and I and others on here can vouch for the fact that their dutasteride (and finasteride) is definitely legitimate.

I was in the same boat as you. So Dutasteride (Avodart) helps me a lot with regrow. If you're curious, just search on Google for "STOP99BALD" :) to find the dutasteride source.
Cheers!

you can try oral minoxidil, 5mg once a day

If you are considering trying oral minoxidil, I'd recommend a lower dose than 5mg because oral minoxidil is risky stuff that can potentially have serious side-effects. I'd recommend starting on 1.25mg a day, and maybe going up to 2.5mg a day after a few months if you find you can tolerate the lower dose okay.

what serious side effects ? 5mg is a tiny dosage which is the equivalent of using topical minoxidil twice a day since you get 2.5 mg to 5 mg in the blood by scalp absorption, unless you have blood pressure or underlying health issues

none of the hair loss drugs i use are sold in my country either...

This is the first I've heard that 2.5mg goes systemic from each scalp application. Has there been a study done that found this?

It's probably not the finasteride loosing it's effect, but probably your genetics kicking in harder making your follicles more sensitive. I think the effect of increasing up from 1mg daily is miniscule. Going further to dutasteride is probably your best bet.
