So apparently finasteride lowers Free T:

http://panarabderm.org/en/midi/18-5195327778442/162-51954bee84df3

"Serum level of free testosterone (FT) and DHT were decreased significally, where total testosterone (TT) was increased, with no changes in other hormonal profiles in treated patients with finasteride."

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/15316165?dopt=Abstract

"The laboratory data on both drug groups did not show any statistically or clinically significant intragroup changes from baseline values to the endpoint (p > 0.05), except the level of serum total testosterone which was increased, and free testosterone and serum prostate-specific antigen in the finasteride group which were statistically decreased from baseline values to the endpoint (p < 0.05)"

What I find interesting is that the original finasteride studies don't even mention Free T once. Since all the benefits of "high T" are related to Free T it would seem like It's a crucial thing to at least bring up. Testosterone deficiency is often determined by looking solely at the free Testosterone.

What are your thoughts, is it something to be concerned about?

... Yes. I just don't understand how it's legal.

I think this was already a well known fact. It lowers free testosterone while slightly increasing total testosterone and shbg. It lowers overall androgenity without feminizing effects.

what i dont get is that ,a small numbers of studies showed that shbg doesnt increase with finasteride use , and finasteride blocks the conversion of free T to dht , so why does free T decrease ?

I don't know tbh, should I be worried? How important is free T really? How come it's not mentioned in the original studies that approved finasteride?

I didn't know about it and I only found one thread when I searched for it.

I've only seen anecdotal reports about guys having increased SHBG. I hope someone else can answer this.

I've never heard of this journal, so I have no reason to believe in what it publishes. With that said, note the conclusion:

"Conclusion: Oral finasteride in dose of 1mg/day is effective therapy for treatment of Androgenetic Alopecia and was associated with androgen serum level changes. Due to the effect of finasteride on type- II 5 -α reductase enzyme and we recommend it with safety profile in treatment of Androgenetic Alopecia in men with minimal side effects, which disappeared
completely after cessation of the drug."

These guys aren't claiming finasteride is unsafe for men.

what the hell? this is not a known fact at all, frankly there is no explanation for shy this should happen and most studies do not find this to be the case

Two three year bumps in one day. Get a grip dude. Stop taking finasteride, you seem anxious.
