I started on a course of finasteride almost exactly 3 months ago to the day. The regularly advised dose - 1/2 pill every other day. In that 3 months my hair has continued to get worse and worse.
I started it because my crown is gone and I noticed the hair at the front which had previously been really thick was thinning out slightly and that my temples were receding.
Since I started finasteride the rate of this thinning out has accelerated significantly. It is now really thin on top and receding at the temples, also I have a spot on the top now of very thin hair that wasn't there before. (At least I don't think it was).
I also have a 'burning' sensation on the top of my head.
I know that finasteride will cause some thinning to start with but I am 3 months in now and its getting worse..... at a far quicker rate.
Should I be worried about this? When I phoned the clinic and told them all this they sounded concerned and said i may have to stop taking it.....which to me sounds like an admission that finasteride is making my hair WORSE.
Is it possible finasteride can make your hair worse? I have not heard of such a thing, nobody else seems to have heard of this as a side effect.
Before I start thinking about lawsuits against this company I just wondered on other peoples opinions? It could be that I am just noticing my hair loss more or worrying about it more which is making me believe finasteride is the problem, not the cure. Perhaps my hair will grow back thicker in a months time? I suffer from pretty bad anxiety and am worrying about it so much i might be making it worse!
Any advice will be gratefully received as I am going out of my mind here! : (
