Finasteride may slow down aging?

Hi, I haven't logged in a while as I've been extremely busy with work and traveling basically. Hope you are all doing well!

So basically, I saw a cousin today that I haven't seen in a long time (about 6 years) and as we were talking I noticed he looked so incredibly young that I had to ask him. He first was like oh yeah, I hear that a lot but I still was shocked as he looked way younger than me (he is 34 years old, I'm 26) and even younger than what I remembered him looking.

So we had drinks and other family members were there and I remembered I needed to take my finasteride pill so I got up and searched the box in my back pack and then went to the restroom and took it. Turns out he saw the box and he asked me to talk outside and I'm like OK. He said he had male pattern baldness for years and he was taking finasteride for years. It was awesome because I rarely speak about those things to anyone so we really connected and all our conversation was in regards to hair loss!

Anyway, he said that he believed finasteride was the thing that was keeping him young, he did explained about how testosterone increases and he thought that made him more focused and etc, etc. But he emphasized that he had lots of hair on his chest and legs and basically it looked patchy, he showed me but to be honest since I couldn't compare with how it used to be I just nod. He then said that he felt his face was more boyish and I certainly agreed, his face does look boyish that what I remembered. He basically is convinced that finasteride made him look younger because he felt angrier in character and now he feels focused, less body hair, younger face, good skin, etc.

This whole evening caught me surprise and I just had to log here and ask you guys cause I'm speechless. If anything, I thought finasteride would make you look older, because dht is important for kin elasticity, etc. So what do you think/know on this? He's 34, relatively fit I guess he works out, and been taking finasteride only for almost 7 years.

Well aparently people say the contrary. It brains fogs you up and you feel numb as hell....
But i've heard people saying they feel younger for taking finasteride.

I've never seen anything on this topic from a scientific standpoint, but there could be some truth in it. I had a baby face even before getting on finasteride but I feel like I have gone even further in regards to that, lol.

These with brain fogs are myths. My mind is clearer than ever since taking finasteride for ~4 years.
Is brain fog even an official side-effect mentioned on the prospect?

I can attest to having brain fog. In addition I was pretty knackered when first starting finasteride. The symptoms were night and day and came on pretty rapidly after starting finasteride.. This resolved after some weeks though. I seem absolutely fine now

I agree with @doublebatman if this is a common effect on finasteride I'm sure it's pretty short termed. To be frank I never noticed this because ever since I started I took finasteride before I went to sleep and mentally, I haven't felt a single difference since starting finasteride for now (7 months).

Wow ~ 4 yrs already? Any changes on body hair? Since I doubt there's going to be hardly any other physical changes in that amount of time, do you feel more energetic all in all? I'm very glad to hear you feel much focused though.

I read (somewhere around here) a "possible" explanation why hormones could affect your overall appearance. Some people claim they "womanized" with years using finasteride (fat in hips, moobs, etc) but I doubt is that significant, specially if you are a healthy person and exercise. However, watching this cousin makes me almost convinced finasteride could slow down the "older" manly looks. How much you've been taking finasteride btw?

It's so hard to find good responses with 8+ years to share their experiences on these things, guess they're living their lives fully. Anyways, thanks for the responses guys!

For some reason that doesn't sound too far-fetched to me that finasteride could "prevent" the more rugged or manly features from kicking in. It would be interesting to evaluate if there's any truth in this, but I can say that on a personal level, I feel like I've always had a boyish face for my age, but it feels even more prominent now at 25 when others are finally growing out of their teenage-looks and gradually getting carded less everywhere. Meanwhile, I get carded all the time, especially with my regrowth that has basically made me go from a balding guy to a non-balding guy...

I've been on Finasteride for 19 months (I believe) at 1.25mg per day. I'm that anemic guy who's also on finasteride, from another thread of yours I remember posting into. I actually had a post related to this babyfaceness in my own thread like a week back, coincidentally, and you can see that post and a pic of me here.

Well look at that! Einstein's here. Tssk tssk you may have missed something:

a-This is a question. It's me asking questions (noticed the two question marks?)
b-Is posted under the general discussions, not under new research, studies and techs
c-All the information provided is practical/circumstantial and no where have I implied being an academic on the subject (go back to point a)

You're a very dumb person for coming here and pretend to be a smart *** where you had no ground. And you just reminded why I haven't updated my story in a while on this site...

Anyways.. Thanks for sharing man. I'm quite impressed by those results. Holy sh*t, I can only wish I get there right now. And of course I remember, thankfully, it all came back to normal and I haven't got a single problem ever since. I can't even complain on my hair, it's stabilized I believe and I'm crossing my fingers to view much more growth. My hairline is pretty messed up though.

I'm really happy it all turned out for the best man, enjoy life while you can! lol

Did your cousin always looked young for his age? How is his hair after being on finasteride for 6 years?
