I started taking finasteride and Nizoral 2 months ago when I noticed my temples thinning a bit. I also noticed that my left temple had begin to recede a little bit. Other than that I was and still am a Norwood 0 who was lucky enough to spot hairloss right at the very beginning.
I've been taking 0.625mg (roughly) of finasteride daily and I use nizoral 2/3 times a week. I only take 0.625 because I read elsewhere in this forum that the effectiveness of finasteride is the same whether you take 0.5mg to 1mg and as you take more or less than the given figures the effectiveness decreases. I also believed that to be a smarter and more cost effective way of dealing with my hairloss as it is very minor and I don't require lots of treatment.
Anyway, after 2 months I have had 0 side effects. No low sex drive, no watery semen. It's actually the opposite, my sex drive has increased and my semen is higher in volume now than before. I'm not saying there is a correlation between the two but that started to happen as I went on finasteride. Also, I've experienced no shedding whatsoever. Before taking finasteride I'd lose a certain amount of hair a day, it was never alarming, even those who aren't experiencing hair loss shed hair daily. But now that I've been on it I shed even less hair than before. My pillows have substantially less hair on them, sometimes i wake up and only see one or two strands on them and when i run my hands through my hair sometimes i dont get any hair and sometimes its only 1 or 2 strands as well.
It really does look like then negative effects of finasteride are overplayed and overemphasised. The stats even back it up where it's stated that lss than 5% actually experience these sides. So to anyone who's hesitant to try finasteride, give it a go.
