I have been on finasteride for at least 3-4 years I think. Anyways lately for last 6 weeks I have been getting stomach aches that include bloating, flatulence, stomach cramps etc so after 3 visits to doctors and trying a few treatments I decided to do a stool test which I will know results next week. I have a feeling taking finasteride has caused this as even saw online that this was some of side effects that can arise. Now I could be wrong and could be something else but I don't know what else would cause it. Just wondering if anyone here being on it ever has stomach issues with it? Im think of going for that transplant proceedure that wayne rooney had as i dont want to be on finasteride for ever and continously spending money on lotions and pills as its a never ending battle

Transplants patients HAVE to continue on finasteride more than anyone!
Unless they want to continue losing hair after the transplant and look ridiculous.

Oh really? Didn't know that? R u sure? R u saying Wayne Rooney is taking finasteride at the moment after having his hair transplant? Coz I thought finasteride was banned in sport because it can mask steroid abuse??

The problems you list can be caused by a thousand different things. I've never personally ever seen any study that linked Finasteride use to these issues. I've seen people claim virtually every possible side effect caused by Finasteride. Yes, it's possible that it just hasn't been founded by a study yet, but that’s extremely unlikely.

It's interesting when some people experience problems; they immediately jump the most illogical cause. I actually do the same thing. Something weird happens while I’m taking a medication and I think: It must be x medication, what else could it be?

Have you been suffering from any additional stress lately? When I get stressed out, I suffer from the same kinds of symptoms you do. It wreaks havoc on my digestive system. I've been on finasteride for 8 months and i've experienced the same symptoms you listed on several occasions, for weeks at a time. However, I also experienced the same for pretty much my entire life, before having ever touched finasteride.

My mom was suffering from the same a while back, for months on end. It turned into severe pain in her stomach and left shoulder.. She went in for some x-rays and it turned out she had gallstones. She had them removed a couple months ago and she's been fine ever since.

I don't understand the "I was fine for years, but today I have something wrong. DAMN IT IT MUST BE THE finasteride!" logic that some people seem to have.

I felt sick yesterday, was it the finasteride? No, I was just sick.

Transplanted hair won't fall out...but the rest of the hair on your scalp will follow suit and die off if you stop taking finasteride. Then you'd be left with a nice hairline...and nothing else (which is the reason I haven't had a transplant yet).

I know that finasteride wasn't allowed in sports for a while, but I believe that it's been allowed recently. I'm sure that there are PLENTY of people in sports and hollywood that are on it but don't say anything. No one wants to be labeled a baldie :-/

Actually I have been feeling stressed and in one way I think it's causing my digestive problems but again I wnated to do a stool test to be sure it is nothing else. Better to be safe than sorry. I will go back to the hair specialist that I get the finasteride precription from to talk more on side effects and also what to expect with doing a hair transplant and using propecia with it. To be honest I never had any side effects other than my man boobs are slightly out and so i have to continously work out to keep them from getting bigger. I can see a lot of people are beginning to get worried about propecia lately so in one way its making us think yeah the next pain or illness u have is caused my propecia when its probably nothing and all in the head. time will tell

Propecia can cause breast tissue growth, even though this is rare. It is estimated to occur in between 1 in 300 and 1 in 500 users of the 1mg version. Keep in mind that when you grow actual breast tissue, no amount of working out will make this go away. It can become permanent and if you leave it for too long, the only way to get rid of it is surgery.

Definitely keep an eye on this. If you begin to grow larger breasts or feel lumps beneath your nipple or anywhere else around the area, go see a doctor. IMO, if you are gaining breast tissue while on propecia, you should discontinue and find another hair loss treatment. Personally, I would take a bald head over a pair of man boobs any day. But again, keep in mind it is quite rare for this to happen, but definitely possible.
