Finasteride Side Effects, Revivogen/S5 Cream alternative?

Hi,

I'm 28 and have thinned out a lot on top in the last 2-3 years. At first I visited Advanced Hair Studios & Ashley & Martin, and was quite dubious on their 'sales' techniques. I did more investigating and came across sites such as this one and determined that they offer nothing more than what is available publicly already.

Anyway yesterday I bought 2% Nizoral Shampoo, 5% Minoxidil Solution (Rogaine), I got a prescription for Finasteride (Proscar), which I took my first 1mg last night. As I was taking it my g/f asked me if there were any side effects, to which I answered I don't know and that the doctor didn't mention any. This got me thinking and prompted me to look up the possible side effects which scare the hell out of me, more than going bald.

Growing breasts?
Decreased libido / sex drive?
Reduction in ability to gain erection?
Testicular pain?
And the possibility of these side-effects persisting long after ceasing the medication.

Are these risks real?
Has anybody suffered reduced libido, or erectile problems?

I'm thinking I might not take anymore and instead try something like Topical Spironolactone S5 Cream and/or Revivogen. Are these nearly as effective?

Yeah, the risk is real. However, I wouldn't worry about it. Watch out if your testicles begin to ache, and quit immediately if you notice softer erections.

I thought aching was a common occurance...

And exactly how bad of an ache are we talking about....for the first 2 weeks I had a subtle ache but now its gone....

Are you advising that i should quit because i experienced the ache that your talking about???

Thanks for your response. I've decided to steer clear of it anyway, I hate to think of the long term effects on my hormone levels, particularly if I ever decide to stop taking it. I've heard it can throw your hormones way out of balance.

I've gone ahead and ordered Topical Spironolactone S5 Cream, Revivogen, and Folligen Spray. It's costs quite a bit more than Finasteride, I just hope it works.

Not sure what I should do with this packet of Proscar, I've only used 2 tablets.

No. Aching testicles are nothing to worry about if you don't get any other side effects in addition.
