finasteride - Watery semen

I have abandoned finasteride for about a year and was using about a year.
I immediately had the effect of 'watery semen' when I was using it but it gradually went away. The problem is over time the amount of semen has diminished a lot, barely anything comes out anymore and it comes out in small drops instead of streams like it used to (sorry thats kind of descriptive, lol).
the other factors are that i did smoke cigarettes for about 8 years, and i am not that physically active. i have a computer job.
could this problem be linked to finasteride or could it be a lifestyle thing? I'm somewhat concerned about it..

The side effect you describe is listed by Merck on the product packaging -- it is a direct result of the drug's effects on your 5AR2/DHT dependant tissues such as prostate (atrophy, involution -- loss of function, reduced prostatic secretions) and seminal vesicles.

Looking for alternative explanations is a futile excercise -- the drug was simply doing what it was designed to do. So no, it has nothing to do with "lifestyle", other than your choice to have taken the medication for a year.

i'm not having any problems with impotence or any other severe side effects other than the decrease in seminal fluid. but now that you mention the prostatic involution you have me worried. it sounds like it is possible finasteride can cause prostate cancer. i'm going to check with an endocrinologist soon. do you have medical experience? is it possible to reverse this problem (lack of seminal fluid)?

Same for me. Have been off for almost 9 months now and still have watery semen. This sucks terribly.
What has the prostate to do with the quality of the sperm? I know it makes it fly more, but it can't make it more fertile or something. The sperm is made in the testicles and pituitary also affects it, so the problem probably lies there, as I'm also infertile.

there have actually been several studies suggesting that is reduces the rate of prostate cancer by around 30%, which is quite impressive.
