Hi all,

I have a small question to ask you all...
My hair was falling/shedding since I can remember and in big quantities...it seems to regrow tho. I got some ppl in my family who are receding but nothing big...

I am using some topicals...I know its not as effective as proscar what I wanna know is..If I start taking fincar and lets assume I have male pattern baldness then the shed should decrease right?

That way I could have an indicator I guess? and if it doesnt decrease then there is something else wrong with me right ?

About a dosage now....is .5mg or even .25 a day would be a good start or should I jump right away to 1mg? I just want to see how my body responds to it..

And about sides..how long it takes for someone to develop sides?(if they do get them)

Just wanna know how it works and stuff...
Sorry if some of the questions were asked before...tried searching but nothing specific...

Thanks..

I would personally start with the 1mg/day dose, side effects typically appear during the first 3 weeks of treatment so you can either lower the dosage to 0.5mg or 0.25mg if you do get them, but try to ride them out before altering the dose since most of the time side effects stop after a couple of weeks.

As far as shedding, man its a roller coaster. You never know and everyone is different. I started finasteride in Feb when I was shedding (naturally) and it stopped during the first month of treatment. But then, I went into a shedding cycle that lasted months. Now I have seem to sort of balanced out. So refering back to your question, it depends on how you react. You might shed even more while on the pill, or not shed at all. The best thing to do is just wait at least 6 months, take pictures and compare.

sides can come and come at any time. the good news is that only a small number of people get them and a lot of people find them tolerable (like me!).

Would the first few weeks be the time that one usually gets sides?
