20 years ago...Damn i love good written SF

I've taken the liberty of eradicating any potentially prejudicial conditions. Premature baldness, myopia... alcoholism and addictive susceptibility... propensity for violence, obesity, etc.

yes in a non so distant future only poor people will get bald

baldness will be something you will only see in tv when they show a documentary about africa or detroit

Yep, it will be like walking into a restaurant and ordering off the menu. "Waiter! I'd like my genes a little CRISPR."

you guys under estimate how terrible this news is.
the human genome is extremely complex and still way out of our understanding. starting to f*** around with "designer" babies will irreversibly pollute the human gene pool.
billions of years of evolution thrown in the garbage because some dumb ******* wants a blond blue eyed baby.
if true the is the binging of the end of the human race.

It was already a wig back then

He must have flinched at premature baldness then.

Quite the contrary, less and less natural selection brought by medical advancements led to a rise of genetic diseases, crispr could rectify that.

When it comes to the value of human life as far as those that rule in that country , it follows that genetic ethics are not of concern to them. And they have a near infinite supply of research subjects. Unfortunately for us, they don't care if their genetically engineered superior soldiers or scientists are bald or not.

i think what @BaldAndBalder means here is that the technology is too complex to risk adding into the gene pool especially for something as stupid as editing immunity for HIV (you’re better off using condoms than polluting the gene pool). Off target editing still occurs, meaning that the Chinese might start adding unknown mutations into the gene pool that give rise to new genetic disorders.

There will hopefully come a time where this technology will become super accurate, but for now it seems risky. There’s a reason why it’s banned in Europe..

CRISPR/Cas9 is super accurate that is why it has been such a revelation for the field of gene therapy. But accuracy is not the factor that mitigates against other risks.

I've read that: it's because the father or the two Girls has HIV so like that his girls don't have HIV.
