First night on finasteride

So, I've been losing hair for about a year now, and I've finally resolved to try treatment. Seeing that finasteride was generally regarded as one of the most effective treatments, I wend over to an online pharmacy (http://www.elitenetpharmacy.com) and bought myself a 3 month supply of generic proscar. Yesterday night was my first attempt to use the drug, and it went something like this...

At 1:00AM I cut up one of the tablets and took one portion which was probably about a 1.5mg dose. About half hour later, I went to sleep. In the middle of the night, around 4:00 I woke up feeling ill. My entire body was shivering uncontrollably for about 10 minutes before it subsided. I could not get back to sleep for another hour or two. During this time I may have noticed or imagined other strange effects such as nipple sensitivity and testicle throbbing, though I was so tired that it's hard to say for sure. I slept poorly for the rest of the night, but managed to wake up this morning only feeling slightly put out, though I've noticed the solid drop in sex drive that others have experienced.

I'm wondering if these are effects that anyone else has experienced during the first dose on the drug. If these effects are going to persist, I don't think I'm going to continue on this med...

Thanks for any info/support,

Andrew

I don't really know if after the first dose the finasteride would do something strange like that. That seems really rather odd. Who knows? I would however recommend to you to take 1mg instead of 1.5. I have always taken finasteride in the morning.

dem, thanks for the info. I'll try taking the smaller dose, though it is hard to be exact when cutting up the already pretty small proscar tablets. I'll also try taking it earlier in the day so that whatever strange things happen when the drug becomes active don't happen when I'm trying to sleep.
