OK, been on Minoxidil for 3 weeks. My scalp doesn' t itch so much as I have this horrible dandruff thing now

So any suggestions to stop this, it really looks terrible and now I don't even want to go get my hair cut out of embarrasment. Its like freakin' chunks comin out or something. This combined with the shed or whatever I'm having and I'm ready to say f*** this minoxidil sh*t, man this is depressing :(

Hey bumboy!

Try swapping stuff around, like cutting out the T/Gel (solved my flaky/itchy scalp after 10 days of no T/Gel and never came back!!) trying one application on minoxidil a day for a couple of weeks untill you scalp builds up a tolerance to it or cutting out the nizoral for a while, to pin down the culprit, if it is the minoxidil you can get various versions from Dr Lee's (I think, best to ask someone else here) with differing ingredients if you are allergic to one.

It might a bit too much for your scalp if you started nizoral/minoxidil/T/Gel all at once, I also found a bit of moisturizer really helped at first.

I think it is generally accepted that a shed is what happens when the stuff is working, and sheds are followed by replacement growth with longer more pigmented/less velus hair. Sheds are not all bad news.

Have you thought about getting some Proscar/Propecia in there?

Good luck moody.

Ty

P.S. Don't use up all the bums I might need one.

I had flaking from minoxidil as well... I pinned down the cause. After thinking about my routine, I realized that the flaking occurred after doing two activities...

One, was applying three doses of minoxidil without a shower in between any of them. Yep, that's right... woke up on a Saturday morning, showered, and applied minoxidil. Then went through my day and got home. I had no evening plans, just waiting for my female companionship for the evening to arrive from her family gathering and she wasn't due back for 3 hours, and thought we would probably shower together, so I thought it a good opportunity to apply another dose before her arrival. I did. She showed up and we shared two bottles of wine, had sex, and then went to bed with no shower. The next morning, she cooked us breakfast and left. Since I was really tired, and it was football Sunday here in the US, I said f*** the shower I'm feeling too lazy lets stir up a bloody mary or two and take in the early game in my bathrobe. I got up to pee, looked at my tired unshaven mug in the mirror, and thought it was another great opportunity to do my minoxidil, and did another application. After the end of the early game, and a nice nap, and lunch, I thought it time to hit the shower. I did so, and when I got out and combed my hair I noticed flaking. I had a second occurrence of this (3 minoxidil applications w/o shower) and the same thing happened. If I shower between at least two of the minoxidil applications, I have no flaking issues.

The third time this happened to me was one late Saturday night when I got home from some evening activities, looked in the mirror, and said f*** this I'm going to f*****g kick-start this sh*t and give my hairs a right royal dousing of Minoxidil. I did so, and it was a 2.5ml orgy of Minoxidil madness! When I woke up the next morning, I was flaking. Showered, and shampooed with Nizoral and it pretty much was gone after that one treatment with the nizoral, on all three occasions.

might sound stupid but do a search on apple cider vinegar in regards to dandruff. i did it for 3 days and my dandruff has reduced 80%! not too shabby.

Sorry for the moodiness.... damn it...

thanks for the advice, I swear using nizoral seems like it dries me out worse than anything. anyway after this bottle I'm gonna order some of that stuff from Dr. Lee with less alchol in it. that should help? well we will see

flaking

You might want to go back to minoxidil 2% and give folligen a try. Its good for healing the scalp tissue. Who knows it might even be the nizoral doin the flaking.

get neutrogena t gel intensive anti flake control. i have the same problem with flakes and dry scalp after using minoxidil. this t gel brand always gets rid of it. when you use it, leave it on for five minutes. trust me, it works. but you'll always have these flakes after using minoxidil. so you have to use this t gel brand after every use of minoxidil to get rid of the flakes.. but it gets rid of it. it is the only dandruff shampoo i've used that does the job.. there are a lot of different t gels.. make sure you get neutrogena t gel intensive anti flake control dandruff shampoo
