Take the time to seriously invest in a good barber/hair stylist. For most of my life I went to your regular super chain of barbershops. Yesterday with some money to burn after turning in my University books I decided to go to a professional stylist. Wow is all I can say you may not like spending 30 (US) dollars on a haircut but in this case it was certainly worth it as this was first time I felt my hair looked good right out of the shop and not a few days after I got my hair cut.

Depending on your severity of hair loss it may not work miracles but it can definitely improve appearances.

I don't always believe the statement 'you get what you pay for', but in this case (for me) it was true.

I've got to admit I'm at that stage where I would like to try something like this. The problem is I'm shaving it down every week for easily managability at the minute - so I'd estimate I'd need to leave it to grow for at least a month before any decent barber/hairdresser could so something.

That month would be difficult though as I know my hair would turn into a mess after just over a week and then it's living with it for those extra weeks when it's like that.

I do agree with your original point though definitely. :)

Quite true.

My next haircut will be a salon-quality one. Sounds :gay: but it's worth it.

An experienced stylist can work wonders with thinning or receding hair. Provided a person isn't beyond NW3 or severely thin, there are a ton of tricks they can do to make hair look fuller or just take attention away from the hairline.

so how do you tell them to cut it?

I usually get a fade, and have about an inch on the top. My hairline is receded and the temples look like crap, but with my hair this length and Toppik it looks decent.

I agree with ur original point, i went to Great Clips the other day vs. a barbershop and the haircut was much better, although I always hate sitting there watching in the mirror as they cut and comb my wet thin hair lol.

Well well, my solution to my thinning hair problem was to become my own barber :)

Can't go to barber if u are using concealers....

I cut my hair myself, using a trimmer, different comb sizes & mirrors !!! It works.... i can style in every way i want.... keeping longer in thinning areas & shorter in other areas.. etc ! AND.... Practice makes perfect !

Now, THAT'S impressive! I could never do that, especially the back!
