i've been browsing these forums for a few weeks and today i decided to join.

i'm 22, will be turning 23 in december. first noticed losing hair in my last semester of college--spring 2002. i remember inspecting my widow's peak and noticed that it was kind of hollow. also, there would be days where i'd shampoo and see several strands of hair in my hands.

initially i thought it was damage incurred from using too many styling products. then i thought it was from the stress from college, as i would scratch my scalp a lot while studying.

a year later however, not much has changed. front hair line has thinned up a bit, and when i look at the vertex using an extra mirror, i notice that's thinning up as well.

i know how it feels for a lot of you to be going through this. there are times i look at pictures of myself from a few years ago with my hair combed straight back. i'd ask myself "how the hell did i go from that to this?" :(

about 4 1/2 months ago i started using SP. 4 weeks into it I added l-lysine and nizoral. recently i've been using thicker fuller hair shampoo. i don't know if any of these treatments will be as effective is i thought they'd be.

what's funny is i have a brother who's 8 years older than me and who has a thick full head of hair. my father on the other hand has a hole in the natural, with recession in the front and he's going to turn 63. My uncle is a year older than my father, but he has a full head of hair. talk about randomness.

I will be scheduling to see a dermatologist to get their opinion. i don't know if this is a symptom of hairloss, but everyday i feel a mild burning irritation on the vertex of my scalp. don't know if that's a sign of my hair follicles being attacked or a side effect of nizoral or what... i'll have to see.

anyway, i've been learning quite a bit from these forums. i guess i'll leave it at that and start participating in some of the discussions going on.
