Just picked up the Jan 2004 issue of MuscleMag and there is an article on p.214 about going bald. The guy who wrote it is a real meat head. First discussing what everyone in this forum fears most- that balding at an early age makes you look like a dork to the ladies. He then describes how he is at the gym and a hottie 22yr old who hasnt seen him in a few months make fun of his hair saying, "Wow you look older, but don't worry you still got the body." He also says the shaved head thing though trendy looks like sh*t. In typical muscle mag heavy handed fashion he trashes everything- with the exception of hair transplants.

He then goes onto trash minoxidil, Fina and nizoral saying none of them work worth a sh*t, he even talks about Lewenbergs formula and how people have had resullts with it but it is just perceived results etc..

Anyone on this site has to read this crap it is an outrage, especially the senior guys like Bruce Lee, Bomb, Axion and HairLossTalk.com. I mean this sh*t is in print in the top selling muscle magazine. Younguyand Hair Mcnair don't read it as it will further depress you.

I think he even states that Propecai is not FDA approved and he used nizoral 2% for 4 months with no results and said it sucks.

I don't buy those mags any more for exactly this reason. The writing is directed at brain challenged youth who have a hard time putting a sentence together.

Moreover, the "science" is just pathetic.

So, nuff said. Thanks for warning others.

One of the reasons I took so long to get on my treatments is stories like that. Missinformation. I doubt that guy has a clue the harm that could possibly do  . I read an artical in the Dallas Morning news years ago about the cost of treatments and that discouraged me big time. I think they said the cost of fighting Hairloss was around 2k a year if I remember right.

I pay around $35 a month now.

just a lack of education.

the thing I have learned over the last couple of years is that you can't just go to your local pharamacy and say

'my frigging hair is falling out'

and expect a pill like you have a headache or yeast infection on your toes.

you have to research this stuff, I am learning all the time, this guy was not fighting male pattern baldness specifically, he was writting a magazine article, one takes days the other takes years, example, did you know if you are you are using L-Arginine you should 'cycle' it, that is take a little bit of time off, that's not the kind of info you learn from 'dipping your toes' into the process of growing your hair back, but it is the kind of info that makes using L-Aginine a success.

You can safley ignore these articles

About the L-arg cycle. How frequent do we need to cycle it to make it successful?

this next bit is all from one of my books, bear in mind this is in reference to using amino acids as GH releasers, but should be a good guide for general use, so here goes.......

"There are two reasons that you should cycle GH-releasers, that is, use them for a period of time and then go off them for a period of time. first, all hormones in the body work via a delicate, complex feedback mechinisms, with one hormone signaling another to turn on or off in response to the amount of hormone circulating in the body. By continually suppliny the hormone from outside you can interrupt the natural feedback mechanism. The GH-releasers cause increased activity in the receptors that bind to them, stopping the releasers for a period of time gives the releasers a chance to reset...........

............ther is an art and science to cycling, except for basic vitamin, mineral and anitoxidant supplements, cycling any substance is recomended. your body will adjust to most things and the response you are looking for will be attenuated.....

...it goes on and on sh*t I can't type all this!!!!!!

basically

If you are using nutritional compounds, such as amino acids, it is recommended to take them every day for four to six weeks and then cycling off for two weeks, this won't screw up your bodys system of recognising these nutrients (or stop producing it's own supply)

cheers

Well fina/minoxidil/nizoral ain't gonna work if your injecting 3 grams of testosterone per week...and the rest. Assuming your follically challenged to begin with ofcourse (ie. genetically predisposed to male pattern baldness). If you not, as we know, one can eat dht sandwiches for breakfast, dinner, lunch & tea.

I don't read such mags for their lack of intelligence, clarity & good quality factual information.

Zimmy

about your regime

minoxidil 5%
Eil Crannel
Proscar (0.80mg)
MSM (6000mg)
Arginine (2000mg)
Biotin (2.5mg)
nizoral 1%
Biotin Shmpoo
Tea Tree Shampoo
A.C Revitalize Conditioner
Pure Emu Oil
Green Tea Drinky

• firstly how do you cut a 5mg Proscr tab into 6.28 parts ?

5mg divided by 6.28 = 0.8mg

Or are you averaging over a longer timespan?

Or have you confused:

5mg div 4 = 1.25mg

with

4mg div 5 = 0.8mg

• What is Eli Crannel and where are you getting it from?

• same with Biotin Shmpoo, Tea Tree Shampoo, A.C Revitalize Conditioner and Pure Emu Oil, where do you get them?

I know Boots have got Tea Tree Shampoo but have never seen the rest. and what do these do?

cheers for any info

I just cut 5mg Proscar in half then divide the halfs into 3 bits. I take one 6th 0.83mg daily, i presume that a little mg is lost with cutting and each bit is never exactly equal, but it works for me.

Biotin Shampoo: http://www.salonlines.co.uk/index.html? ... lang=en-gb

My favourite shampoo, looks like its good for your hair also is the best thing ive used to give my hair volume.

Tea Tree shampoo: http://www.mankind.co.uk

I use American Crew Sport Tea Tree shampoo and conditioner. Tea tree is a natural dandruff suprressant and i like this one as it has conditioner in it. Mankind also has Revitalize conditioner, although i dont like it that much. Conditioners by themeselves make my hair look limp.

Pure emu oil: http://www.worldwideshoppingmall.co.uk/ ... mu-oil.asp

I use about 5 drops of it mixed in with my shampoo, works great esp. with Nizoral. Its good if you have an itchy scalp.

Eil Crannel Alpha: http://www.lipoxidil.com (under the name of lipozyte plus)
Its a topical anti-androgen, similar to spironolactone except with a longer half-life i think. Lipoxidil are very expensive though. I get mine from an Italian pharmacy...youll need to do a search on HLH for the info i dont have it here. Try searching for `eil crannel` or `17a` or `estradiol`. http://www.hairlosshelp.com/forums/search.cfm

Lizzad, i hope when you perform such positions the girl didnt have beans or chili for supper?

I am perplexed becasue muslce mag has good how to articles on training and technique- I am surprised they allowed such an unresearched trash article to make it into the pages as a feature article.

Musclemag is a Canadian publication and wriiten by a Canadian author, they have a different perspective on things. But alas this guy had muscle in his brain, a real dipshit no matter where he was from. I expect to read some posts from folks who have read the article in the future.

Why bother listening to the guy? He is obviously not educated about hair loss products if he is making claims about Propecia not being FDA approved and none of the treatments working. Believing what he is saying would be like going to a four year old and asking them for advice on your taxes.

While some people do look goofy with a shaved head it does not mean that everyone will.

Yes cal me and you know this but the guys who dont come here, the ones who it is just happening to and are scared this really assasinates there confidence and gives them no hope, much like hopewas does to the newbies on this board.

This is a respectable magazine and that article pretty much assasinates any poor bastards hopes for stopping male pattern baldness unless they get a $30k transplant as the auther suggests. It is an article in very poor taste, the only thing that redeems it is that the guy was also going bald, probably from steroid use.
