So i have taken 3 months 1 mg/ed finasteride and than since 5 weeks im on 0,5mg/ ed dutasteride. The overall hair thickness improved a lot, but the frontal continue to thinning dramatically.

in november and december i was taking a medium dose of prednisone (glucocorticoid) for an allergy. Not sure if this can be the cause. I did some reserch and didnt find nothing that claim prednisone could raise testosterone or dht.

could be a shedding ? My hairline and front were very weak, maybe such a powerfull medication like duta make them shedding for a newer more stronger in the nexth months.

Frontal thinning may also caused by high Testosterone. I know it from myself. And using duta you high chance of increase free T that will do more harm.

Dutasteride definitely thins out the front (probs due to rise in test) it isn't a shed- try protecting it with RU and CB. I am mixing 40-50mg of RU with stemoxidine every day and applying it to the front

Are you worried about the whole upregulation issue with RU? I’m in the same boat, stopping the Dutasteride but damage might already be done to the front.

I definitely am worried about the upregulation issue and I have experienced the effects of this when I dropped dutasteride and went back to finasteride. I lost about 20% of my hair in a couple of months so it does seem to be a real thing. However, I don’t really have any other options and soon I’ll need a system anyway so just trying it out really

Upregulation ? Sorry man but you switched from duta to finasteride , like from a ferrari to a fiat, its kinda obvious you will lose some gains

Ouch. As if I’m not beating myself up about it enough... I was uninformed at the time and my Derm told me it would be fine. Yes, he’s an idiot. Also, I was only on it for a month so we are talking about upregulation not loss if dutasteride gains.
I’m on here to help others not make the same mistakes I did. I really don’t think it’s helpful to criticise other people’s mistakes. This forum should be about mutual support. I can tell you that on the ‘hair replacement’ section of this forum members generously give advice to the people who have clearly been through a difficult journey to arrive there. How about we show some compassion on this section of the forum? We are all here because hair loss is a devastating condition and it’s ruining our lives
