I had gastric bypass 6 months ago and I am losing a lot of hair. I am NOW taking all of my vitamins, etc however, it is not helping. My doctor is dismissing any anxiety I have as "stress related" and that is not it. Any advice? :dunno:
Im not sure their is alot you can do about this. But from my understanding hairloss due to gastric bypass surgery is not permanant, so I wouldn't freak out just yet. You have an excellent chance of it growing back. Just wait a 3-4 months but if you have already done that look into Rogaine. It might help to regrow some of the hair you lost.
No point taking propecia unless you think the gastric bypass has somehow triggered male pattern baldness in you. It could be just a coincidence. I think you need to see a derm to find out if your hairloss is due to stress or the surgery or infact minurization of the hair follicle which is Male Pattern Baldness. Once you get a diagnosis you can then select the most appropriate treatment. Good luck.
