Gastrological problems from finasteride?

Hi everyone,

I have been on finasteride for about two months. About a month and a half into it. I started burping a lot and having really bad indigestion. The doctor said it is probably acid reflux. He said a medicine like finasteride usually does not cause it, but you never know. It is really annoying. I am in the middle of a bad shed and I do not want to give up finasteride now, but this acid reflux is really getting to me. Anyone ever heard of this?

Thanks

You have stress or anxiety induced acid reflux or gastritis from worrying about losing your hair or if finasteride will give you sides. I have stress induced gastritis simply due to anxiety of worrying about going bald. Anxiety about hair loss can cause problems like this. Or its possible some foods you eat are triggering it too.

Thanks for the response. SO I kept taking finasteride up until a few weeks ago. The bloating and digestive problems just kept getting worse and worse. A few days after they quit the pain went away. This was not at all psychological because the pain was that intense. I would wake up in the middle of the night. This sucks because I have nothing now to combat my hairloss. I don't know why this happened. Only like I see is the connection between the alpha 5 and bile metabolic pathway. Anyone know what I could take as an alternative to finasteride that would not cause this?

You should try restarting treatment and taking a more healthy approach while on it
