If someone found out a gene cure , i am sure the rest of the hair society out there offering solutions will replicate that biotechnology eventually resulting in it being cheaper?

I think that if they find a gene cure then those of us who have aready suffered male pattern baldness will not benefit.

I guess we'll benefit by not losing the rest of our hair.

evenually all types of hair resoration / preventatives will be cheaper.

Hell, i Have a newspaper from Chicago Illinois from 1947 promising male pattern baldness treatment...... a whopping $15 a month!! that was a lot back then i think!

There has been many research recently showing promise of regrowing hair on a slick head. The various trials on mice prove them.

But the thing is can it work on humans and have success? I don't see this being out until the next century.

My view is, I think you suffer from wishful thinking. Don't hold your breath waiting for a cure for hair loss. Modern medical science doesn't seem to be able to cure much of anything. In 2003 the U.S. alone spent close to 100 billion dollars on medical research, what exactly did these people accomplished with that 100 billion dollars that was spent on research; did these people cure anything?

I don't think any of us are in a position to know or criticize the expenditure. You can bet that research dollars are being spent in the areas where promise and profit is most. Remember, drug companies are for profit. Even researchers at universities are at times funded by these private ventures. If you shun them, you should also throw away your finasteride and minoxidil...because they're both a direct result of pharma research.

Why has nothing progressed past this? Perhaps the problem is more difficult to solve than you think. I hope new, better things will come out - and you can bet that they will. However, I hope with all my heart that other, life-threatening afflictions are being pursued more aggressively with the bulk of dollars available to research.

Guys, male pattern baldness DOES NOT KILL YOU. AT WORST, IT'S AN AFFLICTION OF VANITY ONLY. IT DOES NOT RUIN YOUR LIFE UNLESS YOU LET IT. SAY THIS TO YOURSELVES 10 TIMES IN A ROW, THEN REPEAT.

I'm not criticizing the expenditure, I'm criticizing the results from that expenditure.

I already did throw away Finasteride and Minoxidil. Finasteride and Minoxidil are basically worthless crap. These two drugs can stand as another monument to medical science's failure to cure something.

If hair loss doesn't bother you, then why are you posting on a hair loss forum? If you are taking Finasteride and Minoxidil, why don't you quit taking them and let your hair fall out naturally, after all, it won't kill you?

I completely agree with everyone of your answers dude. And I hope that male pattern baldness is cured ahead of cancer and AIDS only in that if you have such a potentially fatal affliction, your respite WILL come at the hands of it (it will kill you). Not so for male pattern baldness sufferers. We have to endure it until something else decides to kills us. Can someone say P80 Launcher?
