Generic Propecia vs. Propecia

I'm curious to hear about experiences concerning propecia as well as any notable differences between generic propecia and regular propecia.

Propecia seems to be the real way to go as far as preventing hair-loss goes. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

Can anyone offer me any help?

If you want to be safe, do what is approved. I take Propecia because it is what's recommended.

I take generic finasteride in the form of 5mg Fincar and have seen typical and expected results.

The only differences I can tell are the cost and the appearance. Cost can be as low as $60-$70 per year, and the tablets look different.

I noticed a decrease in libido after taking the 1.25mg for a month. Did you notice anything after the switch from Propecia? Either in growth or libido?

I had a decrease in libido for the first 2 months on finasteride. After that, all was well.

Browsing these forums, I hear so many ridiculous horror stories of men growing additional body hair, becoming impotent, and actually losing more hair due to "shedding".

Do you really think these side effects are common, or just simply more prevalent due to the nature of this board?

How much do you pay for your finasteride? $60-70?

Least expensive way to take finasteride (that I know of) is to buy the generic Proscar and cut it into 4ths, or greater. Here's where I get it:

Why does the 1.25 mg affect the body so much as very close to the 1 mg... any idea? If libido is changed, does that mean DHT levels are changed? I have quite a bit of propoecia left? What would you do:

1)alternate 1.25 fincar and propecia every other day

2) go 1.25 fincar continuous

3) go propecia till out, then 1.25 fincar.

Why wouldn't you just go with a generic finasteride? Are their specific advantages to using proscar over fincar, or is it just what you feel more comfortable doing?

Why wouldn't you just go with a generic finasteride? Are their specific advantages to using proscar over fincar, or is it just what you feel more comfortable doing?

I have no experience with fincar. I am able to buy Proscar very inexpensively at costco so that is fine with me.
