Getting more body hair

I have been using minoxidil and propecia for 5 months now. I don't think I've had any regrowth in this time.

However my hands and wrists are getting considerably hairier than they were before. It's not as though there is a lot more quantity of hair but the hair that was already there is now much longer and also thicker.

Do you think it is the minoxidil that is causing the extra body hair because I believe finasteride is meant to reduce body hair if anything.

If I stop taking minoxidil will my hands go back to what they were before or is this permanent?

It's more probable that somehow you're getting minoxidil on your hands. Can you be sure you aren't getting any on there? Maybe it absorbs from the palms and is still working on the hands.

However, as I got to 18-20 years old my hands got some hair growing on them. I've been on finasteride for 5 months now and I think the hair is actually growing in thinner past my wrist.

finasteride does not necessarily stop new body hair from growing, its just a fairly common 'side effect'.

I'm 27 now, so I would have thought body hair would have mostly stopped growing. I do use my left hand to rub in the minoxidil, however I wash it straightaway after I'm done. I don't know why the right hand is also getting hairier. Maybe it's systematic absorption, I do use 1.5 - 2ml twice a day.

nah, some people continue to have an increase in bodyhair until they're 50+

Sounds gross but my dad was making a joke about starting to grow some back hair a few weeks ago. Hopefully that isn't in store for me or finasteride will keep it from happening LOL.

It's the minoxidil. I have/had the same side effect. Hairier arms and legs, thicker beard etc.

Don't know if it's permanent though.

I'm gonna give the minoxidil a full year, if I see no real improvement in hair growth then I'll drop it and just continue with finasteride.
