god please help me

Hey this is my first time posting on this forum after reading through it a shitload, learned alot here. Anyway,ive been on .6 mg finasteride for three days now and im already experiencing low libido, weaker erection etc. I was gonna try just taking it EOD but i dont know if i should stop now and forget about it or stay on it and hope the sides go away.
Id really appreciate any advice from someone who has had a similar experience or who knows anything about this.thanks guys

My advice is to stop if you are not comfortable with such side effects. Most likely they should go away within a few weeks after quitting.

Unfortunately I got a limp dick within 3 days too, but stayed on for 11 months hoping things would improve... never did.

I guess you are cutting your 5mg pill into 8 pieces to get approx .6 mg

Anyway it should pass in a couple of weeks, if not I would probably stop.

Remember your mind is VERY powerful, if you keep thinking about problems they will arise

many find the side effects pass after a few weeks to a month. I would stay on it and see how it goes. Do not make a decision based upon one comment, see what happens in your situation.

I'd say the safest course would to be quit right now. If you decide to wait it out and see if it gets better, don't wait more than a few weeks.

I got side effects from day 2. I was on 1.25 mg a day, though. It was certainly not in my head, since my state of mind has little to do with spontaneous erections (which almost disappeared). They never got better while I was on finasteride. After I quit the situation has improved somewhat, but I still have a low libido and reduced penis sensitivity.

I experienced nipple pain after 2 days on finasteride, my friend.

Your story is shockingly similar to mine... same side-effects which still haven't disappeared although my overall mood has improved a lot.

hey holy didnt expect any replies. I didnt take any today and am going to stop totally if i dont see an improvement in a few days. I think it could be in my head i dont know but maybe its not wrth the risk putting more of this sh*t into my system. I think the 2% side effects stats are totaly BS by the way. It sucks cause this is the only real drug that can stop your hair loss at what price ya know like whats the point of having hair if u cant even have sex

Norsk - you said you stopped and you still have low libido and reduced sensitivity. Thats crazy dude hopefully it gets better. How long since uve been off the drug Can u still get an erection if you dont mind me asking kind of a personal question

I've been off 3 years and although some of the mental side effects cleared up a lot during that time, I still have no libido, erectile dysfunction, penile/scrotal shrinkage and numbness (feels like rubber) and some gyno.

I'm not alone in this, there are a certain percentage of guys like me and Norsk that even after quitting, things did not fully reverse -- despite Merck's claims things always go back to normal. For example:

I will say that we are in the minority here, the vast majority of men taking Finasteride have no issues and if they do quit, side effects do cease. Perhaps there is a genetic issue at play for an unknown small percentage that don't.

Yeah I guess the pain I experienced when touching my nipples for example in the shower was in my head. Yeah, suuureee. Besides, my chest got swollen on finasteride and it worsened my "natural" minor gyno. All that didn't happen in 2 days though.

I have been off finasteride for 6.5 months now. Yes, I can get an erection. Never had much problems with that. They do seem to go away much faster, though, especially morning erections (which used to be very persistent before).

I used to get morning wood almost every morning. Now it's maybe once a month, I mean it's really rare. No joking. I don't get any spontaneous erections either anymore (I used to get those quite often and they were quite irritating so I don't miss 'em much).

Just an FYI Mew runs a site devoted ONLY to propecia side effects and only posts negative stuff about propecia. If you check around you will see he pops up only to post negative stuff about Propecia

I was one of the believers when I found his site in 2003 (then on YAhoo groups) and even though I didn't have any real sides ( your libido is supposed to be lower at 35 than it was at 18) I believed the hype and stopped Propecia.

To make a long story short I lost a TON of hair, had to have another transplant and have been back on Propecia for 3 years with no problems.

My advice is to make the decision based on what you think not others and especially not from posters with an obvious agenda.

If you go on finasteride, your hormones go on a little roller coaster ride for a month or two, but once that settles down all will be well. You may indeed have a slightly lowered libido, but if it still gets hard whenever you need it to that would seem to be a non issue. If you obsess about this, you will just shoot yourself in the foot.
