Okay.

I'm a young-ish guy, although surprisingly some years older than a few of you (just turned 23). For a few years now, I've been thinning at the crown. Until recently I could kid myself that it was "just a cowlick", but well, I can't anymore. It's still not too bad though. And my hairline doesn't seem to have changed at all. But I notice some of the hairs there are smaller and scragglier than the others, so it could be about to start receeding.

Lately I've been shedding quite a bit as well. It seems like I can't touch my head without pulling off a terminal hair or two. And of course, my brush is a veritable colony of hair diaspora.

I never thought going bald was so bad really. But, well, I didn't think it would be an issue for another 10-15 yeas. (Family history of hair loss). From what I've read, the only things that will help are finasteride and minoxidil. I'd have to go to a doctor for the former (I'm in Canada), and it would be a pretty big expense right now.

I suppose I'm trying to decide if it's worth it. I'll have photos next time.

Avodart, which is stronger than propecia, never had phaseIII FDA trials because there was not enough profit predicted. The trials cost money. You can buy any copy writen drug someone else for 1/3 the price the owner sells it. Most companies do phaseII trials to show the drug works, and don't go further than that.

Many drugs besides finasteride and minoxidil work. Just make sure the study was placebo controled, and the placebo was good, and the study was long enough, and the difference between the two was big enough. You have more hair in the late spring than in the winter, and many scam studies take advantage of that. Just read the studies and use common sense and post them here for others to look at and you should be fine.

I'd tell you what to buy, but you might not believe me just yet. Just search for posts by Bryan. He posts a lot of studies.

tell your Doctor you want proscar, then get a pill cutter and cut it in 4ths and take 1.25 mg finasteride.

You can get cheap rogaine off of ebay for about $70 a year USD.

Get some Nizoral shampoo, i suggest the 1% which is cheaper and OTC.
Leave it in hair five mins before rinsing.
