Hi everyone, I think that I am getting pretty good results after being on the big 3 for four months. I started off taking 1.25mg of Proscar but now I've lowered it to 0.65mg because I was getting some sides- It's all back to normal now :) Please by all means take a look at those photos and decide for yourself whether I am actually getting any regrowth (it may just be my mind :D ). I couldn't find a better photo from 4 months ago hence this low quality :). My left side, as you can see, got much more regrowth than the right for some reason. Well, I am staying positive and I shall update this thread every month from now on :) Thanks !

I feel like an ***, but I'm going to say it anyhow.
how much to ask is it , to just say what exactly it is you are using when you post a (success) story ?
brand of minoxidil, how many times a day etc etc
Saves me alot of typing.

forelock sure looks healthier and thicker, congratz

Hi, I am using Kirkland Liquid Minoxidil 5% at night and Rogaine Foam 5% in the morning. I also use 0.65mg of finasteride every day and nizoral on Wednesdays and Sundays. I feel like the finasteride has only just recently started working because I can see new hair every morning. When I was taking 1.25mg, I had less erections and my sexual life was a little bit worse. It's back to 90% normal I would say. I will keep updating, I hope that the journey isn't going to end here.

Nice improvement, just goes to show you minoxidil with finasteride works the best. When you slow down the balding process with finasteride, minoxidil has more hairs to thicken and keep in the growth cycle so your hair thickens up. Minoxidil definitely works better at its maximum dose of twice daily.

If you start to get a big shed around your 8-9 month on your treatments don't panic. For some reason this seems to be the time this tends to happen. Stick with it regardless.

Hi DoctorHouse, thanks so much for you reply! Are is the hair going to come back after that shed you are talking about?

I used some toppik today on a little area that needs regrowth and I hope that sooner or later my hair is going to look like this: IMG_1994.JPG

Also, I have taken some photos trying not to hide my hair loss so much;

Subtlety is what you want to strive for and I think you successfully accomplished this goal. Keep your chin up and wear your hair proudly.:)

Yes, the hairs that shed should come back stronger. Just remember, shedding is usually a sign the medication is working. I think its effective peaks around 8 to 9 months and you recover by year 1. After year one, things could get even better or start to level off.

Sweet. You have the exact same hairline and hair style as me. Definitely looks improved.

How long did it take your sexual side effects to disappear after you lowered your dose? I've been on finasteride for just over a month. Started off with 1mg a day and lowered to .5mg a day for the last 2 weeks. I'm still having a low libido and weak erections. I'm hoping it will improve in time.

Hey CM24, thanks for your reply ! The funny thing about my hairline is that I can't remember what it looked like exactly before I started loosing hair i.e I can't remember if it was round or straight and I can't refer to any photo from the past because I just can't seem to find any suitable ones ! I am in a bit of a muddle because I don't know what to expect from the BIG 3, namely how much more is it going to grow back? :)

I think that it took about 2 months but I am not entirely sure. I go through times when I don't have morning erections but then suddenly I would have them everyday for a week or two, it just depends. Last week I was having sex and then there was a moment of awkwardness of some sort and I wasn't able to regain an erection. However, the next day I had sex three times just to see what my reaction would be and everything was just fine. I am going to stick with it until my hairline looks better and then I am going to switch to topicals such as spyro etc.

P.S. Thanks so much for your support I.D WALKER, I really appreciate your comments, they build my confidence

I have been getting sides from finasteride and decided to drop it. I have used it for about 6 months and I feel that I don't want to be dependant on a pill.

I will try to use it topically for the next three months to see whether it will maintain my hair. I have mixed 5 proscar tablets with a bottle of 60ml minoxidil and I will be applying it daily for the next three months. I hope that it will maintain my hair that I have regrown using finasteride. I have also ordered the s5 cream to see whether that will work. So my regimen from the 5th of July will is: Nizoral 3x a week, minoxidil 6% and finasteride topical 2x day. If that doesn't help then I will order some RU and see what happens. I only want to maintain what I have now so If anyone knows of people who managed to do that without finasteride then please let me know.

Update Today?

Absolutely great regrowth, certainly inspiring. I am currently in the same boat as your were at the beginning (Norwood 2, only receding at the hairline). I started my regimen of the BIG 3 a week ago. What is your hairline like today, has the treatment prevailed in the long run
