Got sides from oral finasteride, should I try topical finasteride?

I tried 1mg oral finasteride a while ago but had immediate sides. I've tried taking .25mg eod for a couple weeks now to maybe ease into it but the sides still happened but less intense than with 1mg. Would it be worth it to try topical finasteride hoping I wouldn't get sides with it?

I don't know what you mean by immediate sides but do whatever you can to make oral finasteride work for you. It is by far the most important hair med for males and it's very important for MtF's as well. Many a tale of woe has arisen from guys who didn't try standing on their heads or taking it rectally just to see. Don't blow this; you won't get another chance except trying estrogen.

I got sides from finasteride tablets both times I tried it and finally switched to topical finasteride and just did less than the recommended dose and no sides at all. I used essegen-F. Tried it for 4 or so months didn’t really see improvement now I just started topical min and topical finasteride combo.

You have to make it work and I know that sounds harsh. Topicals might work but not as well. You need to start with maybe a microdose of finasteride and then slowly and gradually titrate upwards until your hair benefits match the costs of sides essentially, where marginal benefit equals marginal cost. Titration will help you develop tolerance as well, which should reduce sides. If you start with a microdose with no effects on hair or sides, then you have a chance to titrate upwards. This med is for life. Do you want to be smearing topical finasteride and topical min on your head when you are almost 60, like me?

No, you want something hassle-free that doesn't weigh down hair or place a cost on you. It's like brushing teeth. I just didn't care for a long time and now I have a brush with a timer and that helps make it routine and something I don't avoid or even think about. I had to deal with sticky topical min for years until foam came out which costs much more but it's worth it. finasteride is your future and if it doesn't work, then switch to dutasteride which might be both stronger and somehow less inclined to sides but I think this is unlikely. Users of dutasteride tend to be experienced in the baldness game and they know more so what to expect in terms of feeling sides or new hair growth: Nothing! It's all about maintenance and if you wait, finasteride/Duta only keep the hair you have now, not what you used to have unless you are under 30 and really, under 25.

I would say try Topical Finasteride as when I took oral tablets I had major sides and since 2010 I been using Topical Finasteride with great success. You could also try zinc and horny goat weed helps counter side effects.

This is the compound pharmacy below if your interested in Topical Finasteride:

Thanks for the feedback. I've ordered it. I'll give it a go when I have it and probably update you guys in a couple weeks.

Every body is different, some can have the same side effects with the topical version or even worse (in rare cases) but most often the side effects are milder.

I was very sensitive to the oral form and I put up with the topical version well, slight side effects but which disappeared with time. Like Jazz1 says, zinc can help, it helps me in the beginning to decrease the side effects before they go away completely.

try the essegen 6 plus from minoxidil max. 35 bucks a bottle, I am just starting my 2nd bottle, a month and a half in. Still don’t have any update on progress, feel like I’m still going through a shed.

I'm starting just with topical finasteride to make sure nothing else gives me sides. If I get no sides I'll look into maybe adding other stuff.
