Hiya,

Bit about me - i'm 22, live in west london, UK. have been starting to lose my hair over the last year or so and the truth of it is - i feel too young, it's affecting my confidence and i'm not sure quite what to do !

i've never had a problem pulling the ladies, but it's not getting any better my hair and i really want to do something about it. it's pretty thin all down the middle and has receeded at the front. i too used to have a nice thick, full head of hair and loved styling it, which makes it worse.

to make everything worse, i've met a girl i really like and she's mentioned it a few times. she said she would prefer me with hair, but it doesn't bother her either. typical !

what would everyone suggest ? i'm not 100% sure on all the shampoos and tablets etc, was thinking about going to advanced hair studios and getting a free consultation, but isn't this dear ?

cheers all,
a 'gettin worried' Grant

OK stay away from Advanced Hair Studio. The are scam artists. Do a search on this forum and you will see why. This site is the best place to get information - have a look around and feel free to ask questions. Have you heard of the "big 3" hair loss treatments: Nizoral Shampoo, Propecia and Minoxidil? If you're in the early stages of hairloss, Propecia may be all you need. It will certainely maintain what hair you have now. If you want regrowth maybe a combo of Propecia and Minoxidil would be a good idea. Have a look on the forum index and read through both the Propecia and Minoxidil forums to get an idea of what they involve. Nizoral shampoo (get it from Boots) is worth using twice weekly.
Hope this helps.

You met this chick recently? If it doesn't bother her why has she mentioned it more than once?

Britannia is right, evaluate your situation. If you are in the early stage of thinning, propecia(finesterade) and nizoral 2% is all that you may need - save the rogaine(minoxidil) for later on incase you need it. minoxidil is best to regrow lost hair (bald spot in crown or hairline for example).

The biggest mistake you can make is giving up early on treatments. Ride out the first year. Read some of the success stories, one guy shed hundreds of hairs a day early in treatment - these hairs grew back thicker. Keep that in mind when start shedding on propecia.

cheers for the responses.

i have brought some regaine today for £30, gonna stick to this for two - three months, but as someone mentioned, think propecia along with a mixture of this will be the way forward.

how do i go about getting propecia ? i take it it's a trip to the docs to discuss the problem and they prescribe it ?

If your looking for regaine you can get it much cheaper. For £42 you can buy 3 months supply from allcures.com. Also if you want to go down the generic route you can find regaine (brand name, minoxidil is drug it contains) for much cheaper. Anyway good luck and I highly recommend going to the Doctor and looking into propecia.
