Ok so I have used violet ray in the past on one half of my scalp as an experiment 10 minutes twice a day and within 1.5 months had new growth darkening and thickening ... slight but noticeable I did quit that back at the time 2012 or so as I thought it was aggravating my sinuses so I do believe in that technology as I’ve seen first hand results ...... last few years I have seen a further decline in my loss and don’t want to turn into a woman on avodart but at the same time don’t wanna be the freak show at family gatherings either ...... yeah people say get over it go work out and focus on your confidence blah blah blah but this disease has plagued me for over 20 years and I’m sick of feeling like a freak show at the carnival on display for all to judge and judge harshly they do even if they don’t say anything . The humiliation is REAL
Anyways I am purchasing a grow comb to once again try the Tesla technology . This time I will wear a nose clip for the sinuses when I am treating ..... I am also spending a lot of money on the most radical natural regimen of topicals and internals as welll throwing everything I can at this curse while I still have some youth left short of growing man boobs if anyone is interested. In my natural regimen I will post thx all and GL

Mind if I ask about your Violet Ray experience? How intense were your daily sessions? Mild (mostly just tingling in your scalp when you used it), or more intense (a small amount of pain, a red scalp, and a dull ache for a couple of hours afterward)?

Good luck with your new comb. Hair loss is frustrating, even all-consuming at times.

I was using the professional unit which has a separate control box outside from the wand I was using 10 minute sessions twice per day at about medium intensity I kept it constantly moving but slowly as if you leave it too long at any one spot it stings too bad noticed kind of an oxygenated blood flow type of feeling after sessions
Got the grow comb last night it doesn’t seem to be nearly as powerful as the professional unit I received in the past yet the before after pics look good unless they are fake lol
But yes after seeing my results on the one side of the scalp I’m convinced this technology does work and I think the maliniak guys results are probably mostly due to the violet ray and not the galea massage please do update if and when you get results big thing is consistency I made sure to do it ten minutes in morning and 10 minutes
In evening

Gotcha, good to know. I use Violet Ray once per day, for 10 minutes. I'd say the intensity is medium-ish. Sometimes a little pain, my scalp gets red, and I can feel my scalp ache a bit for a couple of hours afterward. Side-effects I've noticed are dry hair and a dry scalp, which is slightly itchy. I'm not sure I could tolerate twice per day, unless I dialed down the wand.

I took before-pics (kind of lousy ones, but before-pics nonetheless), and I will post a three month update in April with pictures.

Can we see the results?

I reviewed the Growcomb. Hope you enjoy!

He's reviewing a different product. The Violet Ray emits electricity and ozone gas.

In any case, nothing he said invalidates the technology. He notes one particular product (Growcomb) has no studies. He also discusses protocol, but the fact is, the optimal protocol isn't known. Also, there's other research in the literature on this technology that he didn't mention.

Quick version:

I started the Violet Ray six months ago. Yes, the same Violet Ray that's been around for a century, long ago deemed snake oil. Part of it's bad reputation is that was claimed to be an effective treatment for just about any disease.

About the Violet Ray: It emits electricity and ozone gas. There is a comb applicator that you can use to deliver the voltage and the gas to your scalp.

Disclaimer: I do not make or sell these devices (in whole or in part), nor am I associated with anyone who does. I feel like I have to point this out.

Caveats:

1) I am on multiple treatments in addition to the Violet Ray (these other treatments were started years ago, so any effects on hair have long since maxed out). The main one being dutasteride. Would the Violet Ray work as well all on it's own? I'm guessing not. Note: I quit LLLT the day I started the Violet Ray.

2) I have diffuse thinning only. No bald spots.

Technique:

One 10-minute session per day.

Results:

* Cosmetically significant hair regrowth.
* Some darkening of the hair.

Side-effects:

* Dry scalp, with a bit of an itch.
* Sore scalp after treatment, which lasts a few hours.
* Red scalp, rarely some pinpoint bleeding.
* Possible side-effect: This device gives off ozone, which doesn't smell nice (IMO), but the larger concern is that you are likely going to be breathing in at least some of the gas; it's unknown (to me) if the amount of ozone is enough to cause any long term health consequences.

Random:

* I took before pics, but I haven't taken any after pics yet. The before pics were right after a buzz cut. I wear my hair longer now. This will make a direct comparison more difficult. I'll likely take an after pic immediately when I get out of the shower, and one when my hair is dry and styled. I'll do this probably this weekend.
* The Violet Ray blows the freaking doors off of LLLT, which I used for two years prior.
* Many different potential mechanisms in terms of why this device would help hair growth. And don't discount the ozone as being a factor. I'll post more about mechanisms when I get a chance.
* I don't know the optimal protocol yet, in terms of duration, frequency, and intensity of treatment.

Edit: These devices are cheap. If you shop around, you can do a six=month trial for around $8 per month.

Is it the chinese versions of violet ray that has been used? These are pretty worthless, very weak watt in these devices.
A question about usage, is the glassrake touching the skin during the session or is it just sparks from abit away?

The rake touches the scalp. At least that's the way I use it. You can hold it slightly above the skin, which makes it more intense, including some spark action.

The first device I used was an old Soviet-style Violet Ray. But it wasn't terribly strong, and the glass applicator would fall off during usage. So I bought another device, which is from China, I believe. It's much more powerful than the other device I had. I can't set the dial to more than half it's capacity, or it's too painful and side-effects would become a problem. At half capacity, I get erythema and my scalp hurts for at least a few hours afterwards (every now and then, a get little pinpoint bleeding in a couple spots). If I get too aggressive in a session, I can feel the pain the next day when I shower and the hot water hits my scalp (just like a sunburn). I have little doubt that if it was turned up all the way that it could cause at least first degree burns if you weren't careful. In any case, I've bought two more of these newer devices (one for the wife, and one as a backup device in case mine stops working). So I own four of these things now.

One more thing. I had read you shouldn't use these devices if you've recently consumed any alcohol. Burns are the concern. Since I am a fairly heavy drinker, this is what kept me from trying it after I bought the first device. So, the device sat on the floor of my office for a year before I tried it. For the record, I haven't noticed any interactions with systemic alcohol, even if I use it right after a couple glasses of wine. I would not use it if you use styling products that contain alcohol...you'd risk getting some nasty burns, I would guess.

Its always good to hear how others do, I did the opposite. Always had the rake from a distance so the sparks shows up. Last session I tried holding the rake to the skin and it burned of some long terminal hairs. I might have held it at one place for to long, but when trying one place same time with sparks it was no problem. It did burn the skin though so one really needs to move it around moore. Im using an old american one though for industrial usage, so its really strong.
